Foroohar Rafiei, SAP, Strategic Customer Engagement, provided this as an ASUG Webcast earlier this month.  Below are my rough notes.

BI4.1 has undergone improvements

Figure 1: Source: SAP

How server is functioning

Key metrics are by concurrent users

See a server metric that show processed on Crystal

Average time was 2.2 seconds shown in Figure 1

Figure 2: Source: SAP

Figure 2 shows a derived metric – a user defined formula that includes one or more other metrics

Create metrics to combine other more complex ones

How much memory is being used by operating system

Subtracting free from physical to see memory used on host

Can do the same for Number sessions

Figure 3: Source: SAP

Figure 3 shows statistics about the operating system itself

Task manager or performance monitor, using 8% of available CPU

Figure 4: Source: SAP

Figure 4 shows that out of box, you do not have access to host metrics – go SMP – download it – instructors in BI admin guide

Figure 5: Source: SAP

Accumulated health of service category or server group – keep an eye on server group

Health of crystal reports service is good 2 – if 1 caution, 0 means danger

Figure 6: Source: SAP

Figure 6 shows the main page of the monitoring

You receive a call – they cannot refresh Web Intelligence based on BICS – drill on it – go to the CMC monitoring dashboard to use – see which WebI server has issue – DSL bridge has issue

To be continued
