Enterprise Portal System Refresh

Portal Refresh can be devided into 4 parts.

1. Pre-Refresh

2. Export Phase

3. Import Phase

4. Post-Refresh

Pre-Refresh Phase

1. Download SWPM

2. Download Kernel

3. Download DB Client (If Oracle)

4. Downtime of source system.

5. SIDADM password Source and Target

6. Extrect the detail of JCO of Target system.

7. Detail of SLD of your Target System

8. Export Backend systems into transport Packages

System Administration - Transport -- Transport Package -- Export -- Portal Content - New -- Transport Package

Provide input as per your convenience

Click Next

Click Finish

Above screen says that your Transport package is created. Now you need to add backend systems here.

Click OK

After adding backend systems, you have to start EXPORT of package.

This will create file with extension .EPA

Also will tell the path of this file.

This fill will require during post refresh so that you can create backend system by importing this file.

Click on Start EXPORT

File is created.

9. Make a note of below entries from Config Tool

10. Take a note of following Destinations from Visual admin.

Take a NOTE of SLD Data Supplier. (IMP)

You can take Screenshot of all the relavant information apart from this.

Export Phase

Database Export

To start with Export of Source system, you need to start SAPINST.exe file

Make sure you are logged on to DB host if you are working in Distributed host.

Go to SWPM folder and start sapinst.exe file.

Reach to location Software Life-Cycle Options -- System Copy -- DB -- Source System Export -- Distributed System -- Based on AS JAVA -- DATABASE Instance Export.

Here it will ask for SAP Profile Directory Path. You will have to provide Path from CI location.

Select the Domain Model as per your system

Source System SIDADM password

DB SID

Database Host

Path where you want to keep Export of DB

Select "manually Stop system when SAPinst Prompts you" this will help you to stop system as per your convenience time

Below is the summary of you input. You can make changes, if any.

Once you confirm with NEXT, it will reach to Execution Phase

Once you receive, below screen, stop of SAP System Only.

DONOT stop DB.

Once SAP application is stopped, Press OK

Once you press OK, DB export will be started. It will take time based on your DB size. (Say example 10 GB 1 hour)

CI Export

Go to SWPM folder and start sapinst.exe file.

Reach to location Software Life-Cycle Options -- System Copy -- DB -- Source System Export -- Distributed System -- Based on AS JAVA -- Central Instance Export.

Here it will ask for SAP Profile Directory Path. You will have to provide Path from CI location

Source System SIDAMD password :

Once you receive, below screen, stop of SAP System Only.

Once SAP application is stopped, Press OK

Once you press OK, Central Instance Export will be started.
