A. Prerequisites - SAP standard VS SAP IS Retail

1. In SAP standard, you need plant view definition to process PO or movement of the article on the plant (like good receipt, good issue).  Plant data on the article master data need to be maintained.

Technical point of view:

MARC – Article / Plant

MARD – Article / Plant / Storage location

2. In SAP Retail, plant view is not sufficient. Article listing is needed.

Listing is the operation that links the article to the assortment.

What is an Assortment?

SAP definition: “An assortment is a SAP Retail object to which materials are assigned (a process known as "listing").”

Actually, an Assortment is a group of articles assigned to a group of sites. But it is not necessary true.

Why not true? Because, each plant have his own assortment also.

The real assortment definition depends on the client organization. It can be a group of articles like “PASTRY ARTICLE” or a group of sites like “LUXURIOUS SITE”. So we need to come back to the SAP definition:An assortment is a SAP Retail object to which materials are assigned (a process known as "listing").” – the true SAP definition, assortment is just an object to link different other objects.

Technical point of view:

MARC – Article / Plant

MARD – Article / Plant / Storage location

WLK1 – Article / Assortment

WRSZ – Site / Assortment

WRS1 – Assortment
