Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How long is the challenge running?

The challenge is open this year until December 31, 2014 (US Pacific Time).

Who can participate?

Anyone can participate, including SAP employees, partners, customers, and students.

What types of movie can I review to earn the "Movie Critic" badge?

There can be many reasons for you to pick a movie you would like to review. It can be because it caught your eyes, you find it entertaining, or because you think it shows exactly how your business needs could be solved. It can be that you are simply curious about the product.

What types of movie can I produce to earn the "Movie Producer" badge?

How about explaining your NetWeaver Portal project, your NetWeaver Portal scenarios, a testimonial, a demo, something with humor, an animated presentation, a Google hangout etc.? You are free to choose the tool and format to produce your own video.

I accepted the challenge and wrote a blog, but I haven’t received the Critic or Producer badge yet. How come?

The SAP Portal Product management team will review all the published blogs and reserves the right to exclude from the challenge any blog without meaningful content. Once we have reviewed the submissions we will tell you (as a comment to your blog) that your blog was accepted. We will award the badges manually on a weekly basis. Please be patient.

When writing a blog for the challenge, which requirements must be fullfilled so that I can get a badge?

Do

  • When reviewing a movie, you should explain in your blog why you think that this video is so excellent/interesting/funny… and why you like it. Give a detailed analysis of the movie. Or you can also tell us something about your own SAP NetWeaver Portal experiences and projects and why this video can help or inspire you or why it is fun. Build a story around your blog by either providing a detailed movie analysis and/or by describing a suitable SAP Portal story (your projects, demos,  business cases etc.).
  • When producing a movie, showcase your SAP Portal implementations and scenarios. Describe your SAP Portal story in a blog: What Portal scenario was implemented? How did it solve your problems, what were the values of the solution for your customer, for your company? Tell us about your challenges, "pain points," and the ways in which SAP Portal and its product components helped to resolve those challenges.

Don't

It’s required not to post a blog that contains just a link to a movie plus 1-3 sentences, which do not deliver any added value to the community. Members prefer some of your personal knowledge, comments or opinion as described under "Do". Blogs with no obvious added value for the community cannot be accepted for the challenge. In that case we will add a comment to your blog and you will get the chance to change your blog content into the required direction.

Is there a winner of the challenge, and how it is defined?

At the end of the year the whole SCN Portal community will be able to vote in a poll in order to pick the best movie critic and movie producer blogs. The authors of the best blogs will receive an additional badge and more points.

How many times can you create a blog as a movie critic or movie producer?

As many times you like.
