SAP River: Deleting the Application

SAP HANA Academy’s Philip Mugglestone offers an informative video tutorial on deleting SAP River applications.

Philip reminds users that when removing or making any important structural changes to an application it is vital that no underlying data exists in the application. So, Philip gives a quick refresher on the various ways to remove data from applications, including the most River-centric way of creating and running a “reset” action.

To completely delete an application a user must remove the application's code from both the SAP HANA server and on the local drive.  Philip provides instructions on how to ensure this is accomplished. First, a user should delete the individual RDL files after backing up any code they would like to preserve. Next, Philip instructs users to activate the RDL project name that now contains an red cross adjacent to the file name that removes the code from the SAP HANA server and repository.

Philip explains that deleting an entire SAP River Project requires the removal of all of the files. These include the RDL files, the HTML files, the Image files, the UI5 files, and default.XS app files. After all of the files are deleted a user has to activate the project to complete the deletion. Finally, when deleting the actual project name Philip encourages users to select the “Delete project contents on disk” option to create a clean SAP River environment for future development.
