Jamie Wiseman from the SAP HANA Academy details how to install the SAP HANA Cloud Platform SDK and the SAP JAVA Runtime for the SAP HANA Cloud Platform. Jamie is using a free developer license for SAP HANA Cloud Platform. Please follow these instructions to get your own free license.

Jamie instructs the user to select and download the neo-java-web-sdk-1.43.20.3.zip file on the Cloud Tools tab on the SAP Development Tools for Eclipse page. After the download the user should extract the contents into the same directory that the SAP HANA Studio is in.

Next, Jamie shows how to configure the connection settings for the server that the SDK will be deploying to. Jamie opens up SAP HANA Studio and chooses window option in the toolbar and then Preferences. Next Jamie instructs the user to click on server and then SAP HANA Cloud Platform. Jamie next inserts hanatrial.ondemand.com into the Landscape host box and sets the SDK location to the folder where the SDK was extracted to earlier.

For the Account name the user should use the SCN user ID plus the word trial that came in the original email they received after registering for the SAP HANA Cloud Platform. The user name should be the same SCN user ID but without the word trial.  After validating the information, the user should click OK.

Next Jamie instructs to return to the Window Preferences option of the SAP HANA Studio toolbar and selects sever and then Runtime environments. After clicking on Add and selecting SAP HANA Cloud, the user should ensure that their SDK file has already been selected by default before clicking finish to install the Runtime.

In order to do local profiling with the SAP JVM profiler a user must install a SAP JVM. Back in the Cloud Tools tab of the SAP Development Tools for Eclipse page Jamie advises the user to select the appropriate SAP JVM for their environment. After extracting the contents from the downloaded file to the same folder as earlier Jamie sets ups the SAP JVM as the default Java Runtime environment in the SAP HANA development studio.

Back in SAP HANA Studio Jamie selects Window then Preferences in the toolbar and then Installed JREs under the Java option. The user should next click Add and leave Standard VM highlighted before clicking next. After clicking Directory next to the JRE Home tab the user should choose the SAP JVM file that was extracted before clicking finish. Finally the user should select the box next to the newly added file name to set it as the default.
