Exploring Various Bex Query Settings

Business Need:

Business would wish to see
only one of the characteristics in the Report eventhough the it is a compounded
characteristic. In such cases, We have the below workaround to address the
Business need.

Use/Purpose:

To remove the Compounded Characteristic in Bex Query.

Proposed Solution:

1 . Drag and drop compounding object in Rows before info object.

2 . Change the display property of the compounding object to
"No display"

Procedure:

Controlling Area is the compounding characteristic of
Cost Center.

So you will be getting the Report as below.

 
 
 

XX00 is the Controlling Area

1000502791 is the Cost Center.

If you would want only the Cost Center to be displayed
in the Report, Below steps have to be performed.

• 1 . Drag and drop compounding
  object in Rows before info object.

2 . Change the display property of the compounding object to
"No display"

3. Now Execute
the Report and Check. Cost Center will be displayed in the Report and
Controlling area will be removed.

Business Need:

Business would not want to
see “0’s” in the Key Metrics in the Report. Instead they might want to see “X”
when there are no values for the KPI’s in the Backend. In such cases, We have the below
workaround to address the Business need.

Use/Purpose:

To Display Keyfigures 0 as “X” in the Report.

Proposed Solution:

The replacement can be done at Query Level in Query Properties.

Procedure:

Go to Query
Properties and change the setting  as
below

Business Need:

Business would want to see
all the Key Fields in the Report when it is exported to excel. But the Repeated
values are hidden by default in the Bex. In such cases, We have the below
workaround to address the Business need.

Use/Purpose:

User wants the Repeated values to be  displayed in the Report
when exported to Excel.

Proposed Solution:

A  setting can be done at Query Level in Query Properties.

Procedure:

At present, the
exported excel does not show the repeated values.

This can be
performed by changing the below setting in Query Properties.

When a Query is
created, The Option “ Hide Repeated Key values ” will be unchecked by default.

You have to
uncheck the “ Hide Repeated Key values ” setting .

Now re-run the
Report and export to excel.

You will be able
to see all the repeated values.
