SAP system has greate Class system which can help in classification of different objects (help.sap.com)

We can use SAP Class system in TRM, but only with Security and Listed derivative classes (tr. FWZZ).

There are four main parts to SAP Classification:

  • Characteristic maintanance
  • Class maintanance
  • Classification (assignments/value assignments)
  • Finding objects

We will configure the following parameters:

  • Object type: Security (table VWPANLA) - usually it's a table where data is stored.
  • Object: Security (ID number BND43/1-2 or other securities) - object which will be classified.
  • Class type: ZBN (Bond)
  • Class: ZBNDCLASSIFICATION (Bond classification) - class will contain characteristic with values.
  • Characteristic: Issuer, Priority, Coupon rate, Redemption feature
  • Values: presented on screenshot below

Let's make classification of Fixed-interest bonds (product type 04I)

(www.investopedia.com)

Configuration

1. Define Characteristics Group - additional level of classification with classed and characteristics.

IMG -> Cross-Application Components -> Classification System -> Characteristics -> Define Characteristics Groups (tr. SM30 -> V_CMG)

2. Define Class Groups -  additional level of classification with classed and characteristics.

IMG -> Cross-Application Components -> Classification System -> Classes -> Define Class Groups (tr. SM30 -> V_CLG)

3. Define Characteristic Statuses

IMG -> Cross-Application Components -> Classification System -> Characteristics -> Define Characteristic Statuses (tr. SM30 -> V_CMS)

The characteristic status affects the use of a characteristic in classes.

Characteristics with status "In preparation" cannot be used in classes.

Characteristics with status "Released" can be used in classes without restrictions.

Characteristics with status "Locked" can no longer be used in classes. This status does not affect classes where the characteristic is already used.

We need at least Status 1 "Released" - check if status is created. If not - create:

4. Maintain Object Keys (Object type)

IMG -> Cross-Application Components -> Classification System -> Classes -> Maintain Object Keys (tr. SM30 -> V_CLO)

5. Maintain Object Types and Class Types

IMG -> Cross-Application Components -> Classification System -> Classes -> Maintain Object Types and Class Types (tr. SM34 -> V_CLA_CL)

5.1. Enter Object table

Checkmarks in "Screen" block - affects on the possibilities to put checkmarks in Class type (5.2.)

5.2. Class Types

Checkmarks in "Screen" block - affects on the possibilities to show tabs in Class master data (2.)

"Multiple objects allowed" checkmark affects to enter classification inside security class master data - you create security class and then assign classificatioin. Otherwise you will first create classification, then security class master data, then assign classification to security class - you are not allowed to enter classification inside sec.class master data.

5.3. Classification Status

5.4. Objects

5.5. Class Status

The class status determines whether you can:

  • Maintain a class
  • Assign objects to a class
  • Use a class to find objects

5.6. Functions/Filters for Finding Objects

Name of a transaction or report which you can execute for selected objects in order to obtain further information on the object.

Parameters here offer possibility to go directly to FWZZ transaction, for example in CL30N - "Find Objects in Classes"

6. Activate Link to Classification Tool

IMG -> Financial Supply Chain Management -> Treasury and Risk Management -> Transaction Manager -> Securities -> Master Data -> Product Types -> Activate Link to Classification Tool (tr. S_AEN_10000887)

Here we activate classification for specific product types.

Configuration (minimum) is done.

Also you can enter data at different levels with buttons: Object dependency, Next level, Next hierarchy level,

Enter the other characteristic yourself.

2. Classes

SAP menu -> Cross-Application Components -> Classification System -> Master Data -> Classes  (tr. CL02)

At "Characteristic" tab enter characteristics that we've created.

3. Security class

After everything is done - go to FWZZ and create Security class for 04I product type.

You'll see new tab - "Classification" and all data which we have created.

Enter "ZBNDCLASSIFICATION" class, press "Create Classification" button.

And in "Charecteristic Value" field you can enter data accordting to your classification of the bond:

After the data is etner in Classification. You can use this data in searching securities.

Enter Class "ZBNDCLASSIFICATION" and Class type "ZBN", press "enter".

In "Value" field enter characteristic value for searching security, for example "Fixed income" for "Coupon Rate" characteristic.

Press "Find in initial class" button.

Enjoy the results:
