In a tutorial video from SAP HANA Academy’s jamie.wiseman details how to get a free SAP Developer license that can be used to access and develop on the SAP HANA Cloud Platform.

Accessing SCN (0:17 – 1:17)

To get a free SAP Developer license for the SAP HANA Cloud Platform you must first create an account for the SAP Community Network (SCN). If you already have a SCN account please move forward to the 1:17 mark in the video.

In a web browser visit scn.sap.com and click on Join Us at the top of the page. After enter your personal details check the two acknowledgement boxes before clicking the Register button. Now confirm your account by clicking on the link in the welcome email from the SCN.

Back in the web browser click on Log On at the top of the SCN home page and enter your account information before clicking Log On. The first time you access SCN you may be prompted to update your records. Once completed click the Save button at the bottom and now you have full access to SCN.

Registering for the Free Developers License for the SAP HANA Cloud Platform (1:17 – 2:54)

Go to developers.sap.com in a web browser and click on SAP HANA in the SAP Technology Offers for Developers box on the right hand side. On the next page click on the gold Start Here button next to SAP HANA Developer Edition.

Next click on the gold Sign Up link of the left side of the page under FREE edition on the SAP HANA Cloud Platform to see a document that details all of the features available with the free developer account.  Note the link for the SAP HANA Cloud Portal next to Platform Solutions half way down the page.

Click the Register now button at the top of the page and enter your information. Agree to the terms and click the Register button to see a screen similar to the one below.

Note your SAP HANA Cloud Platform user name that begins with a letter P. This user name will be necessary when using some of the developmental tools.

After clicking the Continue button you will be logged into the SAP HANA Cloud Platform Cockpit.
