Document Title: SCC fails to open and service failing to start with Timeout message.

Author: Mandar Kulkarni.
Date: 03/March/2015.

Problem:

When starting the Sybase Unified Agent service, it takes a long time before failing, and the service manager displays a message that the service startup has timed out. Thus, SCC is not getting opened. The URL is reachable with error as “Contact your administrator.”

The <UnwiredPlatform_InstallDir>\SCC_3-0\log\agent.log shows the following message:

[ERROR] [runtime.SupRuntimeAdminister ] [13451931@qtp-22649035-4] - Get cluster connection from localhost:2000 fail: com.sybase.uep.admin.client.AdminException: com.sybase.djc.SystemException: Error: Connecting to host: localhost, port: 2000.

Explanation:

This problem usually occurs when the Sybase Control Center repository database log file is out of sync with the repository database. A related symptom is the message SQL Login Failure in the Sybase Control Center repository log file.

Solution:

Review <UnwiredPlatform_InstallDir>\SCC-3_0\services \Repository\scc_repository.log log for any issues with the database transaction log file during startup. If the transaction log could not be processed, the database cannot start, and consequently nor can the Unified Agent service.

Resolved this error by:

  1. 1. Created a backup of <UnwiredPlatform_InstallDir> \SCC-3_0\services\Repository\scc_repository.log.
  2. 2. Deleted the <UnwiredPlatform_InstallDir>\SCC-3_0\services\Repository\scc_repository.log file and restarted the Unified Agent service.
  3. 3. The faulty repository file shows the logs as-

            java.sql.SQLException: [Sybase][ODBC Driver][SQL Anywhere]No database file specified at ianywhere.ml.jdbcodbc.jdbc3.IDriver.makeODBCConnection (Native Method)

4. With new repository file everything working fine.

Hope this will help for all SUP administrators for resolving the SCC access related issues.
