Figure 1 shows that anything in the future is subject to change

Figure 2: Source: SAP

Figure 2 is a familiar slide, now titled “Simplify landscape” showing the converging, rationalizing tools

SAP said they want “Platforms simpler for on-premise install, maintain, configure and move to the cloud”

What is different in Figure 2 is that Design Studio shows up in Data Discovery and Analysis

Figure 3: Source: SAP

Figure 3 shows planned innovations for Design Studio; the comment on this slide is SAP is “switching to mobile UI5 framework”

Figure 4: Source: SAP

Figure 4 shows planned innovations for SAP Lumira with agility with a business user focus

Trust is for IT and includes more deep auditing of Lumira

Big data plans mean that HANA is not meant to be a repository for big data

Differentiation – Data Access and Data Merging

Wikipedia has become new source of the truth and takes advantage of “wisdom of crowds”

Figure 5: Source: SAP

Design Studio with new templates lets you connect to curated datasources managed by IT and allows decision makers/analysts to report off that information

Lumira allows you to connect to core data directly; more freedom and users connect to their own data sources (see Figure 5)

Differentiation: Content Creation

Lumira is relational data discovery engine

Design Studio is multidimensional engine with the ability to connect to BW and HANA

Differentiation – Data Discovery for BW – Acquisition vs Online

Figure 6: Source: SAP

In the future, use Design Studio templates to access BW Online for data discovery

Figure 7: Source: SAP

Figure 7 shows planned Lumira data acquisition mode to acquire from BW and bring to Lumira

It will provide the ability to combine with a non-BW environment

It is expected to release next month – 1.27

Figure 8: Source: SAP

Figure 8 shows previews of the planned download from BW for SAP Lumira

Figure 9: Source: SAP

Figure 9 shows that the plan for Design Studio templates is to do Data Discovery online, in browser, via pre-created template

It will have just Visualize and Compose room

The .ini file option in Lumira 1.17 was a Design Studio app running within Lumira

Figure 10: Source: SAP

The Design Studio templates will have full OLAP capability

Figure 11: Source: SAP

With the online templates in Design Studio 1.5 you can save stories

A:  You will see OLAP Analysis capabilities coming in to both Design Studio and Lumira and much of it has already started with the advance of Design Studio templates

Q: These extensions: is it a license or a fee to be paid only once?

A: Extensions are priced by the entity that creates them. Many of them are free.

A: Here's the Extensions marketplace - new look, new content - check it out https://cloudnwcportal-exp.hana.ondemand.com/partnerextns working on more open sourced extensions as well - and encourage you to contribute. Stay tuned

A: 1.5 if full compatible with relational universes (single source)

Design Studio 1.6 will raise the row limit to 20k and in 1.7, we intent to raise it further

Also on development plan is multisource universes

A: 'download from BW' will allow prepare, compose, share etc.

Q: Design Studio supports BW 7.4??

A: Yes, DS 1.5 can even use BW 7.4's text key figures for commenting

Q:  Do we have any more slides on Design Studio and Relational Universes later in the presentation?

A: DS's relational universe access has not changed in 1.5.  The changes will be in 1.6+

Q: Thanks for that... and when is 1.6 expected to be delivered?

A: Q4
