HANA Studio Troubleshooting - DIY

The objective of this document is to look at some common HANA Studio issues and the steps to troubleshoot / resolve.

ISSUES

• SAP HANA Studio Fails to Start

    Symptom: SAP HANA Studio launcher window appears for some time but studio fails to load.

   

     Resolution:

• Go to  C: -> Users -> <USERNAME> -> hdbstudio ->.metadata

    

• Clear the contents inside the .metadata folder.
• Restart HANA Studio.

• SAP HANA Studio fails to start due to JAVA JRE issue

    Symptom: A JRE or JDK missing error occurs when HANA Studio is started.

    

Resolution:

• This can be due to incorrect configuration file (.ini). The Java Virtual Machine path can change due to new software installation.
• Right click on the HANA Studio shortcut and select 'Open file location' to go to file location.

    

• Open hdbstudio.ini file.
• Locate the javaw.exe flie in your system.
• Set the correct path of file javaw.exe file in the hdbstudio.ini file.

• Catalog, Content, Security and Provisioning folders fail to open in HANA Modeler Perspective

  Symptom: Folder fail to load in Modeler perspective. Message ‘Pending…’ is displayed but loading fails.

  Resolution:

• This can be due to corrupted hdbstudio.ini file.
• Right click on the HANA Studio shortcut to go to file location.

    

• Open hdbstudio.ini file.
• Check the value under ‘openFile’ in file.
• Set it as shown in snapshot below.

I will try to add more issue and resolutions to the list as and when i come across.
