Using Solution Manager BEx queries as a data source, I started looking at counts of tickets by volume, status, month of creation, open/closed.

First up, Lumira Desktop 1.27 with the BW extension installed:

Notice that Lumira sees the aggregations on the query are NONE; this is important because if you don't set the aggregations correctly you will experience some strange results.

Above is Lumira showing open messages by component

Above is Design Studio by component using the Data Discovery Visualization template.  I like that Design Studio knows I want to only report on this level of the hierarchy.  Design Studio is using an online connection to BW.

With Lumira you are not using an online connection to BW so I click "refresh" shown above and notice how the number of FI tickets change

With Design Studio, I just click the visualization and the number of tickets updates (online connection)

One key lesson learned with the online connection is to use the pause button when changing navigation or characteristics; otherwise the data discovery process becomes slow.

In the compose room for both Design Studio and Lumira Desktop, I couldn't seem to place different charts on the same page and have them be understandable.  It could be I am doing something wrong so I hope to attend some hands on training here to learn more at the ASUG conference later this month:

Sharing

In Design Studio, you share by bookmark or export to PDF

The bookmark allows you to share the link by e-mail.  An observation about the PDF export - it only exports one page of the story at a time, not the entire story.

With Lumira, because I want to see how this looks on a Mobile Device, I share to Lumira Cloud.

Once on Lumira Cloud, my charts do not work; so I recreated the same charts on Lumira Cloud

Once on Lumira Cloud I can put more than one chart on the same page in a story, something I couldn't figure how to do in Lumira Desktop (and have it be readable) :

I then logged on to Mobile BI to Lumira Cloud:

I like the online feature of Design Studio and it works better with my component hierarchy but because it is online it is slower.  If you use Lumira you need to watch the aggregation in the BEx Query otherwise the results will be wrong.  I also found with Design Studio I needed to adjust my BEx query to take care of "not assigned" - I don't have an easy way to filter on not assigned in Design Studio.
