Dear all,

SAP Mentors have once again made a big splash at SAP TechEd! 60 of these top influencers from SAP’s ecosystem contributed over 100 hours of educational content in Barcelona. They continue to keep themselves current, and ask the questions that matter to SAP and conference attendees.

Here are some highlights:

  • Although we didn’t get a chance to show Steve Lucas how the SAP Mentors ‘fish bowl’ (a.k.a. Mentors Room) has turned into an ‘aquarium’ in Barcelona, our Mentors did attend and participate in his Press & Analyst Q&A session. And yes, Steve, SAP Mentors would be glad to share their latest success stories, and do some demos with you on the keynote stage at next year’s TechEds!
  • Our ‘aquarium’ continues to build on transparency and open dialogue, hosting Executive meetings with SAP’s Tanja Rueckert, Prakash Darji, Bernhard Luecke, Sven Denecken & Jens Baumann, Irfan Khan & Thomas Grassl, Maricel Cabahug, Jayne Landry & Juergen Hagedorn, Umesh Rustogi, and Boris Gebhardt & Jens Weiler from ABAP product management team. Thanks to these SAP executives for keeping SAP Mentors up to date, and fielding questions from Mentors!
  • Results and follow-up from these meetings are already taking shape – join the next Mentor Monday Webinars where we hear from SAP, and publicly discuss the impact of the latest S/4HANA announcement. Owen Pettiford has also arranged a December site-visit in Walldorf for the S/4HANA Special Interest Group with Sven Denecken’s team.
  • SAP Mentors contributed to over 350 hours of content at both Las Vegas and Barcelona events combined. Proving that both quality and quantity matter, Mentors consistently received higher than overall average ratings from TechEd attendees. Mentors average lecture rating in Las Vegas was 4.3 out of 5 (compared to a 3.9 overall average), and 4.6 in Barcelona (compared to 3.7 overall average).
  • 11 Live Studio interviews were hosted by or included SAP Mentors. See all the interviews from Barcelona, including the latest updates for Solution Manager, SAP HANA use cases, SAP Development Tools, and SAP Next-Gen Consulting Services. My personal favourite is SAP Community Events with Mentor Alumnus Vitaliy Rudnytskiy, Mentors Twan van den Broek, Gareth Ryan, and Martin Steinberg. Also check out the insights that DJ Adams and Malin Liden share about the Value of Community.
  • After coaching InnoJam teams to use Design Thinking and doing some coding themselves, SAP Mentors jumped into this year’s theme of solving challenges in Energy and Utilities. Top 6 finalists Twan van den Broek and Jan Penninkhof represented their team on the DemoJam stage, and celebrated the occasion with a selfie.
  • The SAP Mentors Jam Band is becoming a mainstay of community-led entertainment at SAP TechEd. This year, the “InnoBeats” band in Barcelona did not disappoint the large audience waiting to enter the DemoJam hall. Thanks to  Carsten Linz and Christian Hastedt-Marckwardt from the SAP Business Innovation & IT team for their sponsorship. And thanks to Matthias Wild and Kati Fischer for bringing the band together behind the scenes.
  • Engaging with TechEd attendees is what SAP Mentors love to do! To date, over 66 attendees have claimed their limited-edition Catch-a-Mentor and Know-a-Mentor badges on SCN for connecting with Mentors. See all the selfies posted so far, and one attendee’s blog about what he’s learned from Julia Dorbic. On the show floor, the Mentors 5-Star Challenge kept engagement high thanks to the generous donations from the SAP Sponsorship team for providing Live Nations show tickets. Congratulations to winners of the challenge Achim Toper, Antonio Freitas, and Hans-Joachim Odlozinski.
  • Finally, some metrics from the @SAPMentors Twitter handle as an indicator of social reach by SAP Mentors: 600+ tweets, with over 1,300 interactions, a total reach to over 616,000 Twitter users. That’s a lot of influence at TechEd Barcelona!

Once again, I’d like to thank the SAP TechEd team of Maria Squicciarini, Tammy McGraw, Eva Piorkowski, Carolin Scherer, Sven Rudeloff, Melissa Berg-Baker, Dianna DiSanto, Jason Lax, Helena Losada and Erin Feldt; SAP Mentors Topic Leads Oliver Schreiber, Owen Pettiford, Yariv Zur, Luis Lanz, Phil Loewen, Tom Cenens, DJ Adams, Gregor Wolf, Ronald Konijnenburg, and Simha Magal; and the SAP Mentors Program team: Malin Liden, Katarina Fischer, Maria Farrales, William Laverde and Charrele Robinson-Brown.

Looking forward to next year’s SAP TechEd conferences, where you’ll find SAP Mentors at the focal point of Learning, Influencing and Connecting.

Yours, Jason
