Extended Notifications is the SAP standard way of informing users (by email) about SAP Workflow workitems in their inbox.

Here are some (old) screenshots I often reference when setting up Extended Notifications. This is not a guide on how to set up Extended Notifications, this is to show what it looks like after it has been set up. This is usually all I need to get it going. It only sends out mails about new workitems.

I called it ZEHS because the user wanted notifications sent out for just a particular application (EHS - Health and Safety) - you can see the TS task numbers listed in one of the screenshots. You can also choose to do this for all dialog workitems but that's only advisable if it's a new system.

Once this has been set up then you have to schedule SWN_SELSEN to run via SM36. Run it as WF-BATCH. For more information, see The Book (http://www.workflowbook.com) or search here on SCN.

I hope this is useful to someone. I set this up in response to a question in the Workflow space because I couldn't easily find a how-to guide on SCN.

Of course, try this in your Test system first and make sure it's working as expected before continuing.

My apologies for the quality of the screenshots, SCN won't let us cut&paste. Hopefully it's clear enough.

The transaction I use is SWNCONFIG.

I hope this is useful to someone, it certainly has been for me over the years.
