Hello,

This is my first blog ever, but I promisse to post more often with new information about Content Server.

Recently I came across this situation where a new Content Server installation returns HTTP 401 in the connection test. Even there's a user and password pop-up using the Connection Test button in OAC0.

Pop-up when trying to create a new repository or during connection test.

So, based in this behavior, I tried many times to replicate it and I finally did it.

This situation happens due to an incorrect installation process. It happens only on Windows environment.

Usually we think that HTTP 401 is somekind of certificate error. Yes, it is... But in this example this is caused by wrong folder authorization.

Here's the explanation:

While installing a Content Server on Windows, the installer was initialized with an user outside the Administrator Domain. Which is bad!
This way the Content Server folder authorizations will be all incorrect.

Solution:
Reinstall Content Server using an Administrator user.
Follow SAP Content Server Installation Guide.
