The implementation of SAP Business One is a complicated process, consists of multiple steps and tasks.
To make sure all the steps and tasks are performed and in the right sequence, SAP Business One provides you with the “Implementation Project”- a well-structured checklist that you can follow when implementing SAP Business One, making sure that you cover all the relevant steps. This checklist is based on the SAP best-practice methodology for fast implementation – Accelerated Implementation Project (AIP).
To launch the Implementation Project choose Administration > System Initialization > Implementation Center> Implementation Project.
The window consists of two tabs.
In the ‘Plan’ tab, you can choose one of the pre-defined project templates to be used as the base line of your project plan, or define your own template. Then, you can enter the details of a given project. In the ‘Progress’ tab, you can document the details of the actual implementation while at the customer site.
You may find the Implementation Project useful in various scenarios:
- Work with the project at the customer site – this is the most common scenario. This way, the implementation project and process are completely transparent to the customer, and adjustments can be made along the way if necessary. For example, if the customer needs to perform some tasks during the implementation, these tasks or additional steps can be assigned to different users.
- Work with the project only at the partner site, for monitoring purposes, without involving the customer.
- Plan the project upfront, at the partner office, package it by using the Solution Packager and at the customer site, when creating a new company with the Solution Packager, you have the project ready for use.
- Plan the project in one company database and copy it to another company database by using the Quick Copy so it can be reused in multiple companies.
As of SAP Business One 9.2 PL 03, the Implementation Project supports all the configuration objects, as well as special considerations for HANA and Cloud deployments.
