SAP NetWeaver 7.3 in General Availability

The latest release of SAP's technology platform is used by SAP customers to complement their business applications with technology components that enable faster adaptation to their business processes, better integration into other SAP and non-SAP applications, and increased operational efficiency of their SAP systems. And importantly, it includes new features and enhanced support for open standards across all of its major components.

"We are proud that we have received so much positive feedback from our ramp-up customers," said Björn Goerke, SVP and Head of SAP NetWeaver development. "A highlight for me was a customer who went live with SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse only two weeks after they received the software. This proves that SAP can bring technology innovation without disruption to our customers. We will continue to evolve the platform and add innovation along the dimensions of in-memory computing, cloud computing, and mobility."

Customers are looking to innovate around their best practice processes in their SAP applications with differentiating processes and applications unique to their businesses. With its many new capabilities, SAP NetWeaver enables customers to take advantage of these innovations.

Key highlights of the SAP NetWeaver 7.3 release include:

  • A unified platform for all Java-based SAP NetWeaver usages
  • Greatly enhanced Java support: Java EE5 certified, Java-only ESB and JMS pub/sub-capabilities
  • Reusable business rule sets with Microsoft Excel integration
  • Enhanced standards support (WS Policy 1.2, SOAP 1.2, WS Trust 1.3, Java SE 6, JSR 168/286, WSRP 1.0, SAML 1.0/2.0)
  • Enhanced integration with the SAP BusinessObjects portfolio
  • Java API for managing processes and tasks in BPM

Sanjay Chikarmane, SVP and General Manager for Technology Solutions at SAP, commented further: "After the announcement last November, we saw huge interest among our customer base in the new technology platform release. This is evidenced by more than 150 customer projects as part of ramp-up. This demonstrates that we are on the right path with our technology strategy and that our customers are following our innovation path."

Since May 2011, SAP NetWeaver 7.3 is available to all SAP customers with SAP NetWeaver licenses. The installation files are available on the SAP Service Marketplace.
