SAP Integration Scenario
During the certification of the deployment via J2EE-DEP, SAP verifies that J2EE Specification compliant applications from independent software vendors can be deployed and run on the J2EE Engine of SAP NetWeaver Application Server - itself a fully J2EE compliant web application server.
Deployment is regarded as the process of installing a J2EE application in the form of an EAR file (Enterprise Application Archive file) on SAP NetWeaver AS following the SAP NetWeaver AS deployment guidelines. The successful deployment of the EAR file using the SAP provided deployment and management tools, followed by a functional test of the application itself, leads to SAP integration certification.
For certification purposes, the ICC will provide interested vendors with the standalone SAP NetWeaver AS J2EE Engine. For more information, contact your regional Integration and Certification Center.
Note: For a list of already certified integrations for this integration scenario please visit the Partner Information Center and use the search functions in the tab "solution".

The SAP Integration and Certification Center (SAP ICC) highly recommends that ISVs and partners, who are interested in certifying an integration of their product with SAP solutions, begin with our page Getting Started with Integration and Certification that explains the SAP ICC services and describes the process how to obtain them. This page helps you select the correct integration scenario and contains technical information, streaming media presentations, step-by-step guides, and much more.
- How to identify the appropriate certification? Please read this article which covers the differences between our two tier J2EE / EE 5 certification offerings (J2EE-DEP 7.0 / J2EE - STD 7.0 and JAVA-EE-ADV 7.1 / JAVA-EE-STD 7.1)

SAP NetWeaver Application Server 7.0 (2004s) - SAP Solution Manager (SolMan) ready!
SAP NetWeaver 7.0 provides an open integration and application platform and facilitates the implementation of the Enterprise Services Architecture. A new J2EE certification (J2EE-STD) in addition to the existing J2EE-DEP certification is now available. Even for products that have been certified for J2EE-DEP on earlier versions, re-certification on SAP NetWeaver Application Server 7.0 (2004s) is recommended. The certification offering based on SAP NetWeaver 7.0 has now two certification scenarios.
For a quick overview, what is it, how do you do it, how did other software vendors do it, please click on the following link: ftp://ftp.sap.com/pub/icc/j2eedep70/J2EE_DEP_STD_70_SDN_Leadin_Article.pdf
- J2EE-STD 7.0 is a certification verifying basic criteria such as the correct installation / deployment of the EAR file when converted to an SCA file using SAP deployment tools.
- J2EE-DEP 7.0 is a certification that takes into account special capabilities of the SAP NetWeaver J2EE engine in addition to what is already contained within the J2EE-STD 7.0 certification scenario.
