Closing period

Currently Being Moderated

Hi,

I have this scenario:

I have set the Closing Period to Automatic change every 1st date of the month. But if I have open SAP application on September 1, Status for August is still Unlocked.

What other procedure or settings do I need to check for this to work for me.

Thanks!

    Hi Nelle,

    Good day!

What is your posting date "To" in your august period, is it aug 31 2011?

        Hi,

Please check the explanation and the example given to compare your scenario.

Automatic Change of Period Status to 'Closing Period'

Automatically assigns the status Closing Period to periods that have already ended. When you log on to SAP Business One, the system date is compared with the Posting Date To defined for the existing posting periods. Each posting period with a Posting Date To that is earlier than the current system date gets the status Closing Period.

An authorized user can change the status of the existing posting periods.

Date When Automatic Change Is Applied

Appears only when the option Automatic Change of Period Status to 'Closing Period' is selected.

Specify the date in which the automatic change of status for already ended posting periods to u201CClosing Periodu201D should apply. By default, the value in this field is 1.

        Example

The value specified in this field is: 10. The posting period related to last year has ended on 31.12.0X, and the current system date is 2.1.0X1. In this case, although the posting period of year 0X already ended, its status will not be changed until the 10.01.0X1.

        Kind Regards,

        Jitin

          Hi Jitin,

Can you please elaborate your example? I'm using months as a subperiod. I have check the Automatic change of Period Status to 'Closing Period' and date when Automatic change is applied is set to: 1

So I'm expecting that if my system date is 1 the previous posting period will automatically change to closing period.

          Hope you can clarify this.

          Thanks!

            Hi,

I have not tested as yet your scenario but to the explanation regarding the example it would be

if the posting date is 01.10.2011 for the next month and the system date is also 01.10.2011, then the Posting Period for the month 09 i.e from 01.09.2011 to 30.09.2011 will be set automatically to 'Closing Period'

            Kind Regards,

            Jitin

              Hi Jitin,

What do you mean by your example, I'm too confused with the setting.  Given this Example:

              Automatically change period =1

              Current System date 09.01.2011 (September 1, 2011)

My period status for 08.01.2011 to 08.31.2011 is still unlocked. I'm expecting that this would change to "Closing Period"

Is this system error? Should I escalate my concern to SAP?

              Thank you.

                Hi,

Sorry for the confusion. I will take your example only

                Automatically change period =1

                Current System date 09.01.2011 (September 1, 2011)

My period status for 08.01.2011 to 08.31.2011 is still unlocked. I'm expecting that this would
                change to "Closing Period"

Please check when the current System date is 09.02.2011 (September 2,2011) and see whether the Period Status is now 'Closing Period' or not?

                Kind Regards,

                Jitin

    Hi All,

One of my customer is also facing the same problem.

I did the test on SBODemoSG.

    Setup

"Automatic Change of Period Status to 'Closing Period'  is TICKED.

Date When Automatic Change Is Applied = 1

    On 30-Nov-2011,

the current period is 2011-11 (01-Nov-2011 to 30-Nov-2011) where the Period Status = Unlocked.

and the 2011-12 (01-Dec-2011 to 31-Dec-2011) the status = Unlocked.

I am expecting the posting period status for 2011-11 to be change to Closing Period.

    On 01-Dec-2011,

    the current period = 2011-12 (01-Dec-2011 to 31-Dec-2011) and status = Unlocked.

The previous period = 2011-11 (01-Nov-2011 to 30-Nov-2011) and status = Unlocked (this is not correct).

    On 02-Dec-2011,

    the current period = 2011-12 (01-Dec-2011 to 31-Dec-2011) and status = Unlocked.

The previous period = 2011-11 (01-Nov-2011 to 30-Nov-2011) and status = Locked (status changed after 1st Dec)

    My SAP Version = SAP B1 8.8 PL21 on MS SQL 2008 R2

    WHY is this so?

    Is it a system bug?

    Regards

    Jessie Ng

    Hi All,

i just reconfirmed my test case.

On 02-Dec-2011, Posting Period 2011-11 (Nov-2011) is also not change to "Closing Period".

    Anyone has any suggestions?
