Please describe what you mean by Widgets and what technology you wish to integrate into. There are many different widget technologies - Yahoo Desktop Widget, Windows Sidebar, iGoogle Gadgets, etc. Each have different techincal requirements. In Web Dynpro (7.02 and higher) we have the concept of the Page Builder and WDA CHIPs. CHIPs are very much like Widgets for a Web Dynpro Page. Is that what you mean?
Thanks for the reply Thomas ,
For example, i want to display the status of the incoming IDoc's to a system.Normally we log in to the SAP system to check the status of them ,
I was thinking to create a desktop widget which flashes when an idoc reaches the system.i want to read the status record of that IDoc from EDIDS table and show it to the user,
i can add some more functionality after achieving the basic set up.I came to know that there is a UI element in Java Webdynpro but not in ABAP.
Or i can integrate .net kind of thing to sap Via RFC .Advice needed of how i can start work for the same.

What UI element are you referrring to?
In general Web Dynpro isn't going to have integration into the major widget engines. However you can in Windows display a web page on the desktop. There would a couple of problems with doing this with Web Dynpro. Web Dynpro is always stateful. Therefore it takes up a user session and resources constantly on the server. For "live" updates you would need to use the TimedTrigger UI element and constantly poll the server.
A better approach would be to create an RSS feed from ABAP or a BSP application. Both of these could be stateless. You can create an RSS feed using an ICF handler class or a BSP application. Brian McKellar wrote some blogs on that topic many years ago here on SDN.
The Web Dynpro Java SAP NetWeaver 7.30 has WebWidget UI element which enables us to embed a piece of custom HTML code or java script code in to the webdynpro view.
That was the thing i was referring to.
Your reply was of great help and will start to work from the point you told.
I read your message regarding the widget, It is very helpful for us,
My requirement is like:
Can I use a web dynpro for ABAP application as a widget in BO 4.0, I read BO 4.0 User Guide and Administrator guide in that they said that we can configure the web dynpro application to the widget but they have not given any step by step guide and I dont know wether we can configure the ABAP Webdynpro application with BO 4.0.
