Hi ,
I am preparing BW P&L report. I have "revenue" and "Expenses" in rows. I am getting "revenue" as Negative and "expenses" as positive. Is that how FI reporting works?
As a figure Revenue Value is correct but it is negative. I need to do further calculation on the basis of it --Please suggest me if anybody has ideas on FI P&L report in BW.
Thanks,
-Su
Hi Sukaur,
In general FI terms the profit & loss report shows Revenue as negative and Expenses as positive because revenue is going to get credited and expenses are going to be debeted.
And if someone want to use the P&L report in BI as well, I think it should have the same terminology.
You should better check with FI consultant in your organization.

Hi Su,
As explained by Durgesh, that is how the items are represented in ECC. We have the P&L statement in our project and our user wanted to have the numbers for 'Revenue' as +ve values. We have reversed the signs accordingly.

Murali.
Hi SuKaur,
You can reverse the values in the query design time so better consult first with your reporting users and then plan accordingly.
Thanks,
Murthy
Thanks everyone-Client has told me to reverse the sign for revenue. I have got a further question
if I am reversing sign of revenue--Should i reverse the sign of 'Expenses" also for the correct calculations? or I need not to worryHierarchy will do the calculations according to original figures? Please suggest, will that be okay if I just reverse the sign of REVENUE and nothing else.
Thanks,
_Su
Hi,
It depends on the client requirement as they told you to reverse the sign for revenue then you should get the confirmation for EXPENSES also.

Hi,
If you are reversing the sign for revenue then you must reverse the sign for expenses also.
