1.You can mention the default order type either through assigning the production scheduling profile in the material master in the
work scheduling view and in return the default order type can be included in OPKP for the particular prod.scheduling profile.
2.Or else in OPPQ/OPPR you have to define the default order type that gets picked during planned order into production order.
Reasons could be any of following.
1. You have not maintained Routing for the material for the plant
2. See the standard sequence of checking the master data in terms of task lists for order. (see OPJF/OPEB). this selection should be maintained in OPU3 against Plant order type comnbination in scheduling filed.
3. After this if at all system is giving error, create reference operation sets with CA11.
You may send me screenshots of OPJF/OPEB and OPU3 if problem persists.

Coming to your question:
> I am working on make to stock strategy i did MD61 - MD02 - but in MD04 when i go to convert pld order in to prod. order it is not
> going in as per regular root ,it is telling Enter order type. can any body help to resolve this
The standard options you have are production scheduling profile, MRP group and Plant parameters,
In OPKP: Here you can set different order type for different production scenarios like MTS, MTO etc. If production order is being created for stock, you can set it in the relevant field, if planned order was created from sales order you can set a different order type and if you want to create production order without material you can set a different type all these will to be automatically picked up if the leave the order type blank while creating production order manually or converting planned order to production order.
In OPPR you can maintain one order type but this has priority only if you don't maintain anything OPKP.
In OPPQ you can maintain one but this has the lowest priority.
