I have spent a lot of time today trying to find Elearning Videos that used to be hosted on the SDN website. Please help me locate those Elearning Videos and had a separate section where we could choose by technology/industry etc. It used to be a great resource. It would be very sad to know if SAP has decided to not offer that content anymore.
Hi Sap Bobj, Thank you for raising this thread.
When I click on these links it is taking me to the respective space.
Do you know how to differentiate between an article and a video tutorial? I mean a logo kind of thing.
What is the new name for eLearning video tutorials in the NEW SCN? Where both Articles/eLearnings combined into "Documents"?
Also Is there a way if we can find the list of Articles/eLearings posted on particular date(eLearning by Date or Articles by Date)?
Appreciate your response.
I have come across this issue where I cannot find any tag or logo or something to filter out the elearning videos or tutorials from the "Documents". I see that you havent gotten any replies to your question, but just wondering if you figured out any way of getting to the elearning videos and tutorials?
Please let me know.
Hi - I am Sorry for late reply.
I decided on waiting till the new SCN stabilizes as it is currently returning non related(or old) search results which is not really helping out. Seems like the whole paradigm has been changed around how everything works in the New SCN from the old one. I am only coming to SCN iff I need something really bad at this point. Also at the same time trying to spend few minutes to understand the website.
I will let you know if I find a way to look into specific eLearnigs or articles.
I'm going to give you the long answer. Hope you don't mind. Initially when we set out defining requirements for the new platform, we specified a separate content type for videos and elearning materials. When you are viewing the Content tab within a space, you have a set of content filters: blog, documents, etc. Given this breakdown, it follows that we should have a filter for videos.
So, when we began evaluating the requirements and exploring potential solutions, we hit a snag. Jive has a video module via a 3rd party service which provides basic video hosting and streaming, but the service offering is not sufficient for our needs. We then began explore other solutions and came to the realization that there are no current vendors with Jive integration.
Plan B... we then investigated masquerading video content as Jive documents but still giving them a unique content type filter. Here we hit another snag: cost. The implementation effort was way too high for a solution that would be short-lived.
Plan C... we were then forced to live with videos as jive document cover pages. Part of this plan is also to expose the video metadata attribute in the search application, but we also ran into significant performance issues with the native Jive search application. We are now running TREX search from the masthead, and from there you can enter a search term and then filter by asset type eLearning.
The longer term solution that we are targeting is a proper video hosting and management platform with full integration into Jive. This will give us the proper content types, filtering, etc.
So... please bear with us as we sort these issues out and stay tuned...
