I have created a packing instruction as
P Carton 1
M Material A 48
M Material B 48
and maintained determinations for both materials. Now am able to get the packing material details while creating the OBD. But the problem is, when am trying to created OBD for Material A =48, and Material B = 48 system is suggesting packing material = 1 quantity instead of 2 qty.
Could you tell me where i did wrong?

Have you packed in two separate packing instructions for material A and Material B.If you maintain in two packing instructions then you will get 2 qty.
It seems one one packing instruction you provided both the skus.

I have maintained one packing instrcution for both materials not two instructions. Practically it is not possible to maintain individual instrcutions for each material because we have materials around 28K. Any suggestion for combined target qty of defferent materials in to one packing material from one instruction.
If I maintain two instructions incase my obd quantity is 55 qty for each material (total OBD qty is 110) system will create packing materials 4 qty instead of 3 qty. Which means system suggests 2 qty of packing materials for balance 14 qty (Each material bal is 55-48 = 7) because i have maintained two seperate instructions.

I do agree,Can you tell me are you using automatic packing or manual packing as line item qty.
If it is autopacking packing you will get 4 pallet qty in delivery.
If it is manual pack then system generates as per packed pallets in delivery.
If you want to see right qty in delivery the option is packing instruction for each material.
Above case also if if more than pallet qty then how do you caluculate pallet qty if more than 2 line items.Say Material A 56,Material B 76,material C 52......etc.
Are you using this pallet information for any other purpose ?.
Use thsi option.
Caluculate pallet qty with delivery line item qty.
Delivery is 100 qty.
Then system should caluculate 2*48=96 =2 pallets
and relmaining loose qty to another pallet say 1.
At header level capture this inforamtion some ware in the table.

Yes, we are using automatic packing. Your logic may be correct for pallet concept but we are no where using this concept. We are using only cartons as packing materials for finished material packing. We can't send so many loose cartons to the customer if system will not allow packing for mixed materials as per packing instructions.

If you are using automatic packing then you need to maintain packing instructions for each material.If the pack qty is same for all skus then maintain packing instruction access sequence material type so that it will pick all materials.
To avoid design complications maintain the packing instructions for each material then system calculates as pallet qty.
I guess mixed materials can pack same pallet but this is manual job.Business should agree either current pallet qty calculation or if they want each material wise qty then maintaining material wise pallet qty.
Check packing routine 103 you can control pallet qty.To find routine go VOFM transaction you can get this.
