Yes, you can execute BAPI and RFC functions from the gateway, it seems the Gateway system is preconfigured to use SAP Enterprise Service Workplace as a backend for the Netweaver Gateway trial.
This way, the data is housed online in the respective ES workplace systems and simply exposed via your gateway system. It is also possible to connect the system to your own backend/data source.

Thanks for the info. However we are really having an issue downloading the SAP files. They get to like 40% then fail. And you cant resume or anything. Is there another download site or tips/tricks to use to get the files?
Have you tried a download utility like FlashGet? I find the built in browser "pause" & "resumes" to often be flakey.
Hi, We have got it all working, green lights etc, but when trying to logon we get an error.

Logon Not Possible. (error in license check)

Not sure which credentials you used to login to the system. Please install license first with

I'm trying work on "SAP NetWeaver Gateway 2.0 pre- configured appliance" My infrastructure is hosted purely on ESX, I'm not able to run HyperV. Will you be able to assist further to run the same on Windows 2008R2 hosted on the virtual machine on ESX

In my view the very first thing to observe is if there is any
licence implication by doing so as I believe it was designed to run on top of
HyperV. Technically it is possible to do it. But the licence check should come
first. I don’t know the answer for the licence implication.

You could also check out Andre Fischer blog http://scn.sap.com/community/netweaver-gateway/blog/2012/05/16/now-available-sap-netweaver-abap-trial-702-sp11-win-64-bit-version-with-sap-netweaver-gateway-20-sp3 some configuration is required, but it allows a little more flexibility in the installation.
