unfortunately there is no option yet. The best way from my experience is to bookmark the link to the places you are following: http://scn.sap.com/places?filterID=following

Yours is a nice idea but might start to break down if your following 20 places.
is right except that these wouldn't be 'bookmarks': going to http://scn.sap.com/places and then selecting 'following' on the left filters the places for those that you are following. Note that you can also set this filter as the default by clicking the push pin. I've got a document about quick links like these and how to customize them: Everything I know about...
