Hi all,
we have installed SAP BO 4.0 SP2 Patch16
and we would like to report over SSAS 2008 cubes.
After some testing of the new dimensional universe created over the cube by new Information design tool,
we gave up this way of reporting, because of poor performance (and also functionality).
Now we are using BO Analysis edition for OLAP, we have exported Analysis view and we want to use it as a source for Web Intelligence reports.
But when we are trying to use these Analysis View we always receive the following error:
'The universe generation using the resource id "xxxxxxxxxxxxxx" has failed. (WIS 00000)'
Thanks a lot for any ideas how to solve this issue !
Rudo
Hi,
Please post your question under "http://scn.sap.com/community/businessobjects-analysis-ms-office".
you may get solution.
Thanks,
Raj
I moved this to the correct category thanks!
Please, any ideas ?
Hi,
That's a generic error message.
It's probably because your webi user doesn't have sufficient permissions to the top-level folder under which the OLAP connection resides.
FWIW - i don't expect this alternative choice of integration to be any faster. (more architectural jumps, essentially the same middleware & processing mechanisms behind the scenes) - did you find it so?

H
Hi,
sorry I didnt mention it, all tests were performed under account with full administrator rights and also directly under administrator account - results were always the same - error from my original post.
We are hoping for the speed of Analysis edition for OLAP and Webi formatting options.
Please any other ideas how to solve this issue?
Thanks
Hi Rudolf
I don't believe this is an Analysis OLAP issue. I suggest you repost on the WebI forum.
Thanks
Hi,
I also facing the same issues. The performance of SSAS cube via WEBI is very slow.
And now planning to look for other option to create the report. Any resolution for this
error:
'The universe generation using the resource id "xxxxxxxxxxxxxx" has failed. (WIS 00000)'
Thanks
Hello KC
Can you please repost this question on the WebI forum http://scn.sap.com/community/businessobjects-web-intelligence and provide as much specific information as possible?
Regards
Hi KC,
I just tried on my patch 5.6 environment and I can open the view in WebI, provided that I have put a measure on a visible axis (Row or Column). If in A-OLAP, I had put the measure on the background, I received an error, like you mentioned. Can you try your view with a measure on the Columns?
Regards,
Philip
Hi KC,
this issue is solved in SP4 - I dont remember the exact patch, but if you will use one of the latest patches for SP4 or directly SP5 it should work.
There is a lot of ways how to report from SSAS with BO4 but none of them is a good in reality.
My experience from SSAS 2008 and SAP BO BI 4.0 (from SP2 to SP5)
1. OLAP universe created with Universe designer - slow performance, no support of hierarchies
2. new dimensional universe created with Information Design tool - support of hierarchies, slow performance
3. Analysis edition for OLAP - in my opinion now the best option from BO, (still not so fast like Excel)
4. Webi + Analysis view created with Analysis edition for OLAP - unstable, lot of bugs, slow
5. there are also other ways - e.g. SAP BusinessObjects Analysis, edition for Microsoft Office, Visual Intelligence,...but not really usable
6. Excel
Our customer chose Excel - big shame for me as BO consultant, but honestly in my opinion they chose best option. In future I believe that also options 2 and 3 will be acceptable for customers but not now - developing of reports with these tools is really painful and full of bad surprises.
