How create universe on excel using JDBC drivers

Dears, I'm using Bo XI 4, and I'm trying to define a universe connection to an xls file.

I 'm trying with generic JDBC drivers, but it does not work.

It's not clear if I have to download somewhere a special driver for this connection or not.

Any advise ?

Please take a look at this document http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-28708 that explains the first steps in BI.
The first thing to do is to check the supported platforms document.

You are trying to use a non supported method, only ODBC on Windows is supported for Excel data sources.
