HI Vijay,
I am not sure if I understand you correctly, however you say, that the tools you buy from the vendor are
treated like material, hence, I understand that the tools then are also assets to you. Have you looked into the possibility of creating an asset class for "Tools" for example and you can create an asset for your tools under this specificly for tools created asset class? That would be one way of putting your tools individually into your system as assets. The same way as for your other assets in your company code you then can imput the value in your system via postings to these assets and view all values in the Asset Explorer AW01N in the same way you do for any other asset. If you want these tools to be depreciating over a useful life and in a certain way, this can all be done via depreciation key and other
depreciation terms as you know.
I hope this helps to answer your question.
Kind regards,
Brigitte

Hi Vljay,
In this case you should possibly look into material management with asset integration to see if this
is a solution to meet your business requirements. You can find some information about this also in the SAP Library under link that I found: http://help.sap.com/search/highlightContent.jsp
You find possibly even more information under Material Management.
It is possible to integrate asset accounting with material management. In this way you have an asset
created with then will show all the movements and values, and you can even assign a depreciation key to calculate depreciation over a useful life. I think mainly you need to find out how the asset integration is working from a material management point of view. For this you are better of to contact material management to gain a full view on your options I think.

Brigitte
