starting sapinst SolMan 7.0 EHP1

Hi,

I am trying to start sapinst on IBM i system.

I have downloaded DVD / material number D51040437 from service marketplace.

In the installation master DVD, there is a folder "IM_OS400_PPC64" where I expect to find installation executables for IBM i.

I was surprised to find out that the executable is names sapinst.exe and it can be started on a windows host.

For other SAP products (e.g. NetWeaver 7.3) , I have found executables for iSeries in the same folder.

Am I missing something or is there a bug in SAP software DVD?

Hi,
Found out from other documentation, that I need to start TMKSRV process and then run sapinst on a windows host, using a special user ID created for this purpose.

    I found out how to start sapinst:
    1) first you start TMKSVR service ("SETUP.EXE" found in instmaster DVD)
    2) Map network drive \\<iseries host>\rootbin
    3) Start sapinst on your windows host
