We have recently implemented BWA.
I have created the indexes and added the step ' Roll up Filled Aggregates/BIA Index' to my process chains for the necessary cubes.
So how do I know the data has been added to BWA? The process chain finishes successfully each time, but I would like to see how much data has been added and if it was successful.
Also I have tested the performance of the queries with BWA and they are only about 20% faster. Is this a standard gain or can more be achieved, and if so how?
You need to perform RSRV checks for data consistencies between BW and BWA.
Did you go through this link.
Go to transaction RSDDV --> BIA indexes where you can find the cube on which BIA index has been created
below the Aggregate sign there is a drop down with tables/index and properties
drop down the tab table/index and you can find the list of tables which has been filled and the number of records updated in each table.
The status should be green for each table. You can monitor the number of record on daily basis just to check the diffrence in records
Hope this Helps
As others mentioned, RSDDV status will show if it is loaded and active.
Also your infocube request will be released for reporting only after successful indexing.
To get the count of records indexed, check the table RSDDSTATTREX. It gives the count of records inserted into the fact and characteristic indexes and also the time taken for various BWA process.
Performance of the query depends on various factors. BWA is not a magic bullet for all performance issues. Check if you can fine tune your query if the OLAP time is abnormal. BWA will only help the DB time.
