iPad connectivity issues in BO 4.0 Platform

Hi All

I am no able to connect my iPad 2 with our organization's SAP BI 4.0 Platform .

All the components of SAP BI 4.0 are working fine. For Mobile connectivity I used the following steps :

  1. 1. Stop Tomcat Web application server.
  2. 2. Copy the file, MobileBIService.war from one of the following SAP BusinessObject Enterprise locations,

as appropriate, to [Tomcat home directory]\webapps.

For SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise 4.0 SP02: [Install directory]\Mobile 14\Client

For SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise 3.1 SP04: [Install directory]\BusinessObjects Enterprise

  1. 12.0\java\applications

Note:

  1. MobileBIService.war is supported only on Tomcat.
  2. 3. Start Tomcat.

After this I get MobileBIService  folder.

To configure the categories, perform the following steps:

  1. 1. Locate and edit the file, [Tomcat_Home]\webapps\MobileBIService\WEB-INF\mobi.properties.
  2. 2. Add the required categories to the request sources (default or iPad) as shown below.
  3. default.personalCategory=Mobile

#ipad

  1. ipad.corporateCategory=Mobile
  2. ipad.personalCategory=Mobile

#iphone

  1. iphone.corporateCategory=Mobile
  2. iphone.personalCategory=Mobile

Now I go to my iPad and try to make a connection

I go to Settings-> connection on my Sap BI Mobile app on iPad

The connection details are as follows:

Name : I gave it any name.Do I need to give any specific name to this connection ?

Server URL : http://<servername>:8080/BOE/BI

CMS Name: <Server Name>:6400

Authentication: Enterprise

Username: My SAP BI 4.0  Username

Password:  My SAP BI 4.0 Password.

After this I get ‘ Connection to the server could not be established ; try again or contact your administrator ( MOB 06031)’

What has to be done more  to get my IPad connected to the organizations SAP BI Platform

    Hi Anshul,

Everythning seems to be fine except for the Server URL you have given.

    The URL should be http://<servername>:8080

    /BOE/BI should be omitted.

    Regards,

    Hi Anshul,

First thing if you are out of firewall you will need to establish VPN connection.

Are you trying to connect to explorer?

If that the case then you have to use following URL

    http://hostname:8080/explorer.

If you are trying to connect BO Mobile App (WebI and Crystal Reports), you will need following configuration in connections.

    Server URL -  http://fullhostname:8080

    CMS NAME - Host:port

    Hope this helps.

    Hi All,

I have installed BO BO 4.0 SP2 build 364 on my laptop and did the configuration steps as below, but when I am trying to connect from IPAD using valid URL and details listed below, I am facing the MOB 06031 error.I have tried looging into the TOMCAT using http://IP:8080 from safari but was unable to connect, i dont have any network issues from IPAD as I tested google through safari and its working fine.

My question here is do we have to do any firewall config for the BO BI  server on my laptop to be accessed through IPAD .I checked turning off firewall, but no luck.

All servers are up including CMS, Tomcat,VAS and VMS.

One more issue I have is being unable to connect to the BI launch pad of my system server from other systems on the same network(subnet). is there any configuration that we have to do to log on to BI lauch pad from other systems.

To configure the categories, perform the following steps:

    1. 1. Locate and edit the file, [Tomcat_Home]\webapps\MobileBIService\WEB-INF\mobi.properties.
    2. 2. Add the required categories to the request sources (default or iPad) as shown below.
    3. default.personalCategory=Mobile

    #ipad

    1. ipad.corporateCategory=Mobile
    2. ipad.personalCategory=Mobile

    #iphone

    1. iphone.corporateCategory=Mobile
    2. iphone.personalCategory=Mobile

    BI Server: IP:8080

    CMS: name:6400

username and password correct ones which are working fine on my system
