Hello,
Would it be possible to get a "Kill list" on SDN forums ?
You could add in this personal list the users which you don't want to read the posts anymore.
It's very common on a lot of other forums.
It would be very useful to have this functionality to get rid of a lot of spam.
What do other people think about this idea ?
Regards,
Olivier
I'd call it "ignore list" (doesn't sound so brutal...), but I'm all for it.
Let's share our black lists later on ![]()
Seconded, thirded and fourthed by virtue of the [previous proposal|Create a personal favourite/ignore user list; on the topic.
Another suggestion I made [this thread|Demand and supply dynamics of the SDN...; was to perhaps make it temporary. i.e. clicking on a blacklist button hides a user for 30 or 90 days.
I consider this a very important feature as it can save a lot of time. Each post by parrot-posters tends to bump a thread up and I end up loading the same threads over and over, scrolling to the bottom and finding no real new contribution. To me this added timewasting side effect is almost as bad as the pointless posts themselves. It's a major factor of why I don't read the forums as much as I used to anymore.
In short: A thread shouldn't even show up as updated when blacklisted posters contribute, then I don't go and read it.... please please please can we have it?
Cheers,
Mike

I'll fifthed (is that a word?) to that. Could we also have a feature to not show messages with the word urgent in the title?

That would be a "must have" !

Can we hide any messages starting "Hello Gurus"? .... hate those!
SDN Team is already working in some solutions...I don't have the details, because they told me to wait -:(
But quality of the forums are going to be improved soon -:D
As for the black list...I don't think it's an option...Some time ago I asked if we could have a wall of shame, where all bad posters get sign so people could recognize them and not answer their questions...My idea didn't get aproved...So even when I support his black list...I don't think is going to be soon implemented...
Greetings,
Blag.
Hello Blag,
but isn't there a big difference between a "wall of shame" and a "personal black list"? Everyone of us is old enough to decide, that she/he don't want to see the threads of persons, added to their personal blacklist. Actually I have a personal blacklist in my mind. I would be happy, if I could decide to see no more posts of them in the future. It would save my time! Time to solve problems of other users!
Best regards
Stephan
Yes personal blacklist would be much better. A public Wall of Shame would be open to abuse where as a personal blacklist is just that, personal.
Paul
Hi Stephan:
Sure, a "personal" black list is complete different...But remember that the SDN Team should implement it in order for us to use it...If you want to use a notepad a type all the users that you don't like, then you don't need a post here, right? -;)
If you want it as a SDN feature...Then it's something different -:)
My opinion is that SDN is not going to implement such a thing...But who knows...It would be helpful...
Greetings,
Blag.
I think the meaning of "personal" here is "only visible to your userid", not something scribbled on a notepad ![]()
I've heard a rumor there is a community member evolving something like that. You might want to watch for some browser extension thingy that is community generated. But I say too much...

Or a feature not to show messages with the word "reward" or "points" in it.
It would be easier to create a "white list" : a list with people that provides useful answers. It will be a lot shorter then the black list ![]()

I actually had one of my indian colleagues start calling me guru and master after I explained how long I've been doing SAP. It was quite embrarrassing really. At least he did what I told him after that though ![]()
I'd add in the sayings
"interview questions"
"resume"
and my favourite
"do the needfull"
"send me documentation" (like they are owed it) moves me right on to the next message
