I have assigned a sample drawing procedure to the inspection plan. After MIGO, inspection lot is created with status REL CALC SPRQ. Now when I tried to do the physical sample result recording system doesnot allow recording. It displays 'Specify Physical samples'. Now in the inspection lot details 2 physical sample numbers were created and numbers displayed. Even if click the samples button and tried to do the results recording it is not accepted. I assigned only one partial sample number in the MIC portion of the inspection plan. But why 2 physical samples are created. Please explain the concept of the partial sample numbers and the physical samples. Also how to do the results recording further when the status is REL CALC SPRQ.

The only possiblility that I can think of here is that the Physical Samples might be requiring Release.
Go to QPR4 T code and release and save. Now if you go to QE51n(or QA32) you should be able to record results

In sample Drawing Procedure, suppose we assign To Partial Sample Number as 10 under one Sample drawing item ( which calls for 2 no. of Pooled, 1 reserved sample & 5 primary Sample ) and in Inspection Plan we can assign Partial number from 1 to 10; it will create exactly same number of physical samples as defined for that Partial Sample Number in SDP.

If we assign Partial Sample n in the Inspection Characteristic, it will create 3 Pooled, 1 reserved & 4 primary Samples & if we assign Partial Sample m in the Inspection Characteristic, it will create 2 Pooled, 1 reserved & 5 primary Samples.

If we assign Partial Sample n in the Inspection Characteristic, it will create 3 Pooled, 1 reserved & 4 primary Samples & if we assign Partial Sample m in the Inspection Characteristic, it will create 2 Pooled, 1 reserved & 5 primary Samples.
In the first case, Sample drawing item-1- if 4 primary samples and 3 pooled samples, then the number of physical samples will be 3 only because the primary samples are mixed to give pooled samples. So here the number of physical samples is equal to the number of pooled samples. Will the 1 reserved sample also will create a physical sample number.
In the second example, similarly, 2 physical samples will be created (equal to the number of pooled samples).
So if there are pooled samples, the number of physical samples created will be equal to the number of pooled samples, irrespective of the number of primary samples.
And also the do the reserved samples also contribute to the number of physical samples because they are to be stored.
please tell me if my understanding is right.Also tell me, if the reserved samples are taken separately or the required quantity of reserved sample is taken directly from the pooled or primary samples.
And how to know and specify the quantities of the individual primary samples to be taken from the lot (shall we use a sampling scheme/ fixed sample number for this) and from the primary samples how much quantities should be mixed to give pooled samples (is this also controlled by the sampling scheme/ fixed sample number).
Will the reserved samples also create a physical sample number,to be inspected.
If there is a sampling scheme in the Sample drawing procedure (QPV2) and another sampling scheme in the Sampling procedure (QDV1) won't the two schemes clash.
Sorry for the long question, because the SDP and sample management are a bit confusing.

Primary Sample: Is the sample taken directly from the Inspection Lot / Container
Pooled Sample: Sample obtained by mixing Primary Samples
Reserve Sample: Taken from the Lot for Reference purpose in future.

These are all independent entity are stored independently as -
Primary sample 3, Pooled Sample 1, Reserve Sample 1
Physical Sample Drawing Number XX
Primary Samples: Physical Sample No.XX01,Physical Sample No.XX02,Physical Sample No.XX03
Pooled Samples:Physical Sample No.XX04,Physical Sample No.XX05
Reserved Samples:Physical Sample No.XX06

If you create Primary samples --> You inspect Primary samples
If you create Primary and reserve samples --> You inspect Primary samples
If you create Primary and pooled samples --> You inspect Pooled samples only
If you create Primary, pooled, and reserve samples --> You inspect Pooled samples only
The information in the Inspecton plan (sampling Procedure,Partial Sample Number and Sample Drawing Procedure) determine the number and size of physical sample. Pooled sample is no. of Primary Sample multiplied by quantity.Reserved Sample are for reference sake and are directly entered in the SDP.

Once you are through with this, we can take it on from here.You may create a sample test case and try to see how does the system behaves.
