Did you mean:
  • The first thing you should determine is whether you are using LOCAL or CENTRAL auto-reactions.  Local and central auto-reactions work differently to each other and need to be analyzed for troubleshooting with completely different steps, as described below.
  • Also note that Active alerts will not trigger new auto-reactions.  The dispatcher checks for ACTION_REQUIRED status only, so for testing, you should complete all alerts, then create a new alert.  The new alert should then have ACTION_REQUIRED status.  You will also have to wait for the dispatcher to run (max 5 mins).
  • You should also check the note 939616:
    • 939616 - CCMS auto-reactions: Help with troubleshooting

Local Auto-Reactions:

  • Local auto-reactions should be configured in client 000, because that is where the dispatcher SAPMSSY8 runs.
  • In general if you want to use the local auto-reaction email methods then you have to follow the procedure which is described in note 176492.  You can only use these local auto-reaction methods for the monitor nodes (MTE's) which are stored in the local monitor segments of the system itself.
    • 176492 - Automatic email when an alert occurs (RZ20)
  • For executing local auto-reaction email methods, check the following points:
    1. Is the user ID which is defined as a SENDER in the auto-reaction method parameters defined in client 000, and is there an email address maintained in the transaction SU01.
    2. Is the transaction SCOT correctly configured in client 000.
    3. If a distribution list is defined for the parameter RECIPIENT, then this distribution list name must also be defined in client 000.

Central Auto-Reactions:

  • Central auto-reactions require the relevant agents to be working correctly and 100% available.
  • If you want to use the Central Auto-reaction email methods then you have to follow the configuration procedure which is described in note 429265:
    • 429265 - CCMS monitor architecture: Central auto-reaction
  • For this you have to (SAT is satellite system and CEN is Central monitoring system):
    1. install SAPCCM4X agents for all the instances of your SAT system and connect these agents to your CEN system.
    2. check in the transaction RZ21>Topology>Agents for Remote systems, if all the required agents are ONLINE, on the CEN system.
    3. on the CEN system create a Central Auto-reaction method in the transaction "RZ21>Method definitions".  For example just copy a correctly working local auto-reaction method, and in the 'Control' tab select the field 'Only in central system, triggered by CCMS agent' and select the 'Release' tab and check field 'Auto-reaction method'.
    4. start transaction "RZ21>Technical Infrastructure>Configure Central System>Assign Central Auto-reactions" and assign your own created Central Auto-reaction method to a MTE-class of your SAT system.
    5. check if the background job SAP_CCMS_CENSYS_DISPATCHER is released correctly as an event triggered job on the SAT system.
    6. if this background job will start in client 000, then:
      1. transaction SCOT should also be correctly configured in client 000 on the SAT system
      2. the SENDER user should be correctly defined in client 000, transaction SU01, with an email ID
      3. if you want to use a distribution list, also the distribution list should be correctly configured in client 000
    7. logon to the SAT system, start transaction RZ20, open the monitor structure which is related to the MTE-class for which you assigned the Central Auto-reaction method and check if the method is really assigned to the related nodes of the MTE-class, by selecting the properties of the node and check the 'Method' tab.
    8. if the assignment is done correctly, create a new alert for this node and when the new alert is created, directly after this check the status of the alert in the 'Open alert' display
      1. if the status is ACTION_REQUIRED this means that the agent is not able to send the alert to the CEN System
      2. if the status is ACTIVE it means that the auto-reaction method is executed and if everything is okay there should be an email document created in the transaction SCOT in client 000 of your CEN system
