Need more details? Such as a short description of the changes and the related SPS? - Check this out:

Please note: The bracket notation (NW2004s SPS/NW2004 SPS) will indicate for each release in what SPS the feature will be available

  • Performance improvements: Collaboration Launch Pad (SPS06/SPS14)
The performance of the user display on the Collaboration Launch Pad (and the room member list) can be improved using an internal cache memory. The system writes all users displayed to the cache memory and reads them directly from there if the same user is displayed again.
  • Performance improvements: Room Directory (SPS5/SPS13)

The search for rooms in the room directory, in room administration, or in the room relations manager, has been set to use the SAP search engine Search and Classification (TREX) by default, allowing high-performance search

  • Revised Set of Standard Room Templates (SPS6/SPS14)
The standard templates delivered by SAP for rooms have been revised and unified. The existing room templates are not overwritten by the new templates.
  • Displaying Room Page Permissions in the Room Maintenance (SPS04/SPS12)
Room members who have permission to access the maintenance iView for the room can now also display the page permissions that are defined in the room template and the templates of the room parts added to the room.
  • Sending Room Documents as E-Mail Attachment (SPS06/SPS14)
The system attaches a copy of the document to the e-mail to be sent.
  • Facilitating the Copy/Move Process of Room Documents (SPS05/SPS13)
When copying or moving documents and folders in Content Management inside and outside of rooms, the new entry point My Room Folders is available. If the entry point has been activated in the configuration, it offers you all room folders in your own rooms as a target location for the copy or move process.
  •  Export and Import of Templates (SPS04/SPS11)
You can transport room templates and room part templates from one system to another.
  • New Room Extensions Points (SPS06/SPS14)
An extension can be executed on adding a user to the room / removing a user from the room / on changing an external parameter
  • Preventing Deletion of Parameters and Extensions in Use (SPS04/SPS12)
You can prevent certain users (for example, external users) of your enterprise portal using the e-mail function in your portal to send mass e-mails.
  • Switching off Automatic E-Mail Sending for Rooms (SPS4/SPS11)
In the configuration of the backend system properties for rooms, you can suppress automatic sending of e-mails when a user is invite, deleted to a room, and when a room is deleted.
  • Prevention of Mass E-Mails (SPS04/SPS11)
You can prevent certain users (for example, external users) of your enterprise portal using the e-mail functions in your portal to send mass e-mails.

Note: This list focuses just on the major changes. For a complete picture please consult the IT scenario specific Release Notes of NetWeaver 2004s

Sneak preview of the planned improvements for the next SPS (subject to change!):

  • Preventing Switch from TREX Search to CM Search for Rooms (New)
  • Configuration of the Page Size in Large Member Lists (New)
  • Deactivation of Invitation E-Mails in Rooms (New)
  • Room Inventory Report (New)
  • Transferring Property Values to Rooms and Room Parts (New)
  • Registration of Groups in the Room Member List (New)
  • Discussions as Searchable Room Content (New)
  • Secure (Simplified) HTML Editor (New)

And finally - my special tip of  the day:

Collaboration Tasks - How to configure e-mail notification for task assignees?

Go to System Administration -> System Configuration -> Universal Worklist & Workflow -> Workflow -> Engine and set Notify Assignees On Task Creation to True. The default value is False.

Note: When creating a task the creator must select one of the notification options, otherwise the system does not send a notification to the assignees.

Prerequisite: The generic e-mail notification service must be enabled. If this has not been set up yet, please read the documentation

There are two ways to enable the e-mail notification service - one provided by Collaboration tasks, the other by Content Management in Knowledge Management.

Applicable releases: SAP NetWeaver 04 SPS 13 and higher; SAP NetWeaver 2004s SPS 5 and higher

(THE END)

... I hope you liked my blog and/or found this information somewhat useful
