SAP, as the largest software company headquartered in Europe, is a leading partner in the European Commission e-Skills initiative. The EC Enterprise and Industry section is driving the message that Information and Communications Technology is a key driver to economic growth and social advancement. University Alliances is proud to coordinate SAP’s involvement in this strategic initiative.
SAP is participating in the e-Skills Week Opening Event at the CeBIT Convention Center in Hannover on the afternoon of March 2, 2010. Herbert Heitmann, SAP Chief Communications Officer, will kick-off the event by presenting what SAP is doing in collaboration with public agencies and other firms in industry to equip the next generation of ICT talent. There are many more jobs available in this sector than there are skilled graduates to fill those jobs. SAP is commited to help bridge this e-Skills gap, and the SAP University Alliances program is one main offering directed at this objective effectively and sustainably.
During e-Skills Week, SAP University Alliances, along with our University Competence Center at T.U. Munich, is sponsoring a special competition for university students to creatively address the e-Skills shortage. The idea competition platform, SAPIENS www.sapiens.info, is open during the week for students to submit their concepts to contribute to this Europe-wide challenge.
Also in other member countries of the initiative, as Cyprus, we will have local events to address it directly to the needs of the local subsidaries and people.
