You've told us for a long time that one of the more difficult things is to figure out how to find the right JAR files and sharing references for specific APIs. Here is the answer:

An excel that lists every portal API, every class and interface, and how to reference them. For every class and interface, we provide the following:

  • Class and interface name
  • Package name
  • JAR name
  • Location of JAR
  • Sharing reference, if required, for the portalapp.xml

The Excel file -- APReferences.zip -- is provided in XML format inside a ZIP file.

Remember, these are only the officially public APIs. Though you may have used non-public APIs -- since there are no permissions and nothing that stops you from using them -- the APIs in the Excel are the only officially public APIs.

NWDI users should use DC references, but since not all portal APIs are exposed via DCs, the list provides JAR references for the APIs.

The Excel also includes a separate sheet for references for portal JSP tag libraries.

Please feel free to point out omissions or inaccuracies in the list, or suggestions for additional information that you would like to see. Add a comment or email me.

We plan to provide a similar list (must sooner 🙂 for the Composition Environment, but supplying SC and DC names for each API.
