As of release 2004s Stack 05, a new capability is available for reorganization of indexes. As of this release, you can use the Reorg function to distribute the indexes in a TREX system landscape among the available hosts to optimize their memory requirements. The purpose of the  reorganization is to achieve a balanced memory load and CPU load for the TREX system landscape. There are circumstances that may make it necessary to use the reorganization capability: • When you make changes to your TREX system landscape. For example, you remove index servers or add new ones. • The current size of indexes does not match the initial size estimates.   Indexes are moved during the reorganization. Indexing is interrupted for the duration of the reorganization and can not be updated during this time.    The TREX alert server contains the reorg check. When this check runs, you are automatically informed by e-mail (if configured), if TREX recommends a reorganization. In addition, you can check in the TREX admin tool which is stand-alone to see if a reorganization is recommended.     If TREX recommends a reorganization (summary = yes), you can find the Reorg function in the Landscape: Reorg ® Summary window. You then can start the function by choosing Start Reorg.   For more information, see:sap.help.com
