I am a consultant specializing in Business Intelligence, Enterprise Information Management, and Enterprise Performance Management. I am also a committer on the Apache ESME project - a scalable, business-oriented social messaging system written in Scala, using the Lift framework.I maintain a deep interest in the intersection of programming, data, and organizations. This interest includes languages (starting with BASIC, progressing through a myriad of other languages, and now focused mostly on Scala), storage systems (beginning with open source RDBMS systems and progressing to an interest in 'big data' systems and enterprise focused platforms), and interaction platforms that help us to add to and make sense of all the information now at our disposal. I'm of the opinion that we are a long long way from solving the deep problems in this field, and I think there is a lot of exciting work to be done.Originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota, I spent nearly a decade in Chicago working on my university degree and beginning my consulting career, and I now live in Hamburg, Germany.
