Welcome to the Business Process Expert community at SDN! And welcome to guided procedures! If you're reading this blog, hopefully you've heard of guided procedures. If not, please check the following recording for a good overview of guided procedures for the business process expert. You can use this second recording to learn how to use guided procedures and to see a demo example of guided procedures with interactive forms. Now that you know you are ready to learn more about guided procedures, where should you start? Well, first you must have SAP NetWeaver 2004s. Guided procedures are only avaialable in SAP NetWeaver 2004s. Next, you need to ensure you have the roles you need. There are three major roles for guided procedures. The Runtime role that is used to execute guided procedures actions. The Designtime role enables you to build guided procedures. The Administration roles enables you to do administrative tasks such as monitor process instances, created end points to systems, and manage forms. You will also need the standard user role if you want to see guided procedure tasks in your Universal Worklist. The graphic below shows the roles we just discussed.

These roles have the following long descriptions:

The business process expert will probably need all three roles (plus the standard user role). Once these roles are assigned to you, when you log in to your portal, you will see the following as part of your new role assignment:

For your users who are executing guided procedures, the runtime role should be sufficient. With only the runtime assigned, they will see the following:

Once you get your roles assigned, then check out the blog on executing your first guided procedure, then you can start to build your own guided procedures!!
