An SAP Global Treasury Corporate to Bank Connectivity solution was recently selected as Highly Recommended Best Cash Management Solution in the Annual Adam Smith Awards.  The Adam Smith awards are the largest corporate treasury Awards global program and focus on "solutions that demonstrate best practice and innovation in the corporate treasury arena." [source: treasurytoday.com].

The award winning solution was truly a team effort across multiple areas in SAP - SAP Creating/Deploying/Running Industry Standards Based SAP.  The SAP Treasury solution involved the Sybase integration project under SAP's Damian Preisner and his team  working with the Sybase in house banks -  Bank of America Merril Lynch and Royal Bank of Scotland.  Damian's team worked in partnership with Marton Luptak and SAP Globalization Services to use Marton's newly developed Payment Medium Workbench payment solution .  This Payment Medium Workbench solution uses the maps between the ISO 20022 Common Global Implementation (CGI) initiative messages and SAP internal data fields that were developed by the Industry Standards and Open Source run CGI Community Definition Group (CDG) consisting of key banks and corporates. PMW supports both Credit Transfer and Direct Debit transactions. Additionally, the solution includes SAP Bank Communication Management (BCM) and End2End Scenario using SAP NW PI and the map to the ISO 20022 CGI  Payment Status Report message.

The Industry Standards formed and led CDG has looked at six CGI Templates of  ISO 20022 message standards - Credit Transfer, Direct Debit, Payment Status, Bank Statement,  Debit Credit Notification and B2C Account Report. The Banks and Corprorate members of the CDG worked closely with the SAP Industry Standards & Open Source Team and GS Team (Marton Luptak) to define the mappings between the CGI templates (profiles) of the ISO 20022 standards.  As the maps were completed, the banks engaged in testing to ensure the solution met their requirements.  To date, more than 20 different pilots have been implemented for Credit Transfer and many more are expected to include the soon to be delivered Direct Debit PMW solution.  Additional pilots using the other transactions and Business Suite ERP Financials and Bank Communication Manager are also underway. You can read more about this CDG in the following articles in SCN:

This solution is yet another example of how SAP contributes to, promotes, and consumes standards to provide best practice integration solutions for ourselves and our customers.
