I recently attended a Partner enablement program organized in SAP India and I got a chance to meet Lorraine Gevrey from SAP, Christian Vogler & Tonda Oberbacher from Technidata, who explained us the market in Sustainability and EHSM space.

Lorraine was more concentrated on Sustainability topics, while Christian Vogler and Tonda obviously on EHSM solutions, as they are from Technidata. There was a discussion on the changes made in the Sustainability Solution map, where I had a doubt on where exactly Sustainability Performance Management fit in the new solution map. Lorraine had a readymade answer; the Solution matrix provided by SAP is not the IT solution or not the product roadmap, but it is the Business solution matrix. As Sustainability Performance Management now is a SAP Product, it will now be in Executive Management in the new Solution map. I was very much convinced by the answer.

The team shared us with the demo on the products SuPM, Carbon Impact, EHS and Environmental Compliance. Now, I like to share a few key points which were shared in the program by the team:

The first session was on SAP Carbon Impact, which was an earlier Clear Standards, acquired by SAP. This SAP Carbon Impact is a hosted On-Demand solution and helps in disclosing Carbon & Energy performance, hence ensuring Credible Transparency.

The major steps in SAP Carbon Impact are Data Consolidation from ERP, Excel, Web surveys, Manual, Mobile, Plant system. The added advantage of this solution is the availability of Reference data from standards like IPCC, WRI, etc. The consolidated data is processed through Data Management and One click Reporting – Excel/ Word

The next session was on Sustainability Performance Management solution. This SuPM solution is an On-premise solution and is designed according to customers Line of Business. This is a Top-Down model, and the only solution which is GRI certified.

The speakers clearly mentioned that SuPM was a Reporting tool and not an Operational tool and is enhanced on NetWeaver 7.01. SuPM application integrates with Business Suite applications, BW data and Non-SAP systems via a Built-in integration framework.

The demos on the Reports, Dashboards, Scorecards was nicely shown in the SuPM application which will nourish the Sale/Presales team to make good deals .

The sessions on the EHSM will be covered in the next coming blogs.
