Hello Communitiy,

The new SAP NetWeaver 7.01 ABAP Trial Version is be available for download. The new Version will also run on Windows Vista.

Please note that the SAP Management Console is included in the download package and should be installed first, if not already present on your system.

The download page is available at:

The same download procedure as in earlier versions applies, download both archives, place it into the same folder and extract SAPNW7.01ABAPTrial.part1.rar only.

Enjoy,

Klaus

Hi,

While i am trying to download ABAP Trial version using this link (https://www.sdn.sap.com/downloads/netweaver/abap/disclaimer.html%7Chttps://www.sdn.sap.com/downloads...), it is asking the credentials.

Could you please help me regarding this.

What would be the credentials.

Thanks,

Hi Gopal,

The link you are using is not correct. It will continue to ask for a Username/Password forever because it is a redirection link that keeps pointing back to itself.

To download the "SAP NetWeaver AS ABAP 7.02 SP6 32-bit Trial" which can be installed locally on your laptop, please try this link (from the responses, above).

http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/abap?rid=/library/uuid/80db43c2-9ee5-2d10-de8e-8547de363868

It will give you the specifications / high level instructions. Then when you click on the "Click here for download" link it will re-direct you to the SAP Store where you can download the software from.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,

John.

Hello I'm a mistake at this stage of the installation.
Anyone know correct this error.

Hi Thiago,

For me the solution always comes back to the 'Swap Size' parameter set in a step before 'Step 16 - Import ABAP'.

The error you have shown should disappear when you set the 'Swap Size' to something ridiculous. Like: 20 GiB.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,

John.

Hi,

I am trying to instal SAP NetWeaver 7.01 ABAP Trial Version on Vista but it is not working.

I get the error message:

"java lang noclassdeffounderror: run exception in thread main"

Can anybody advice how to fix this issue?

Thanks

Hi Alexander,

Firstly: This error generally refers to the 'class path' variable not being defined or it is incorrectly defined. When the Java program starts to run it uses the operating systems variable called 'classpath' to locate the libraries/classes that are delivered by the JVM.

Go back over the java installation instructions and ensure the classpath variable is defined in your operating system, properly.

If that did not work then ...

Secondly: The version of the java software your are running is generally supposed to always be forward compatible. In theory you should be able to download the latest version of the JVM and use it to run older java programs. Unfortunately the SCN forum is full of examples where it is not this simple. Conclusion, locate the SAP Netweaver 7.01 installation instructions, it will state the exact version of the JVM that it was written for, then go the older download section for the Java software and install it on your system to be run along side the SAP Netweaver 7.01 software.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,

John.

Hi John,

Thank you very much for your help but I afraid this is too complicated for me and I have no idea how to check if the classpath variable is defined properly...:-(

Hi Alexander,

If running your own instance on a laptop is not to your liking then perhaps you might want to look into the live demo capabilities that are available.

Perhaps the "BW 7.4 on SAP MaxDB* [Trial Edition]" is what you are looking for.

It is a fair bit of reading to start with but it looks like it would be worth your time.

It is guaranteed that Vista is nowhere to be found in those solutions ... much better   😉

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,

John.

Thanks a lot for sharing the information.

I install it in my WINDOWS 7 enterprise PC with 16GB.

It took about 6 hours with an error for installing one of 37 abap objects.

I retried it in the morning, and it works than.

It is installed in total 7 hours.

I will update more experience here afterwards.

Hi Ivan,

The “Import ABAP (Step 16)” continued to fall over, no matter what was done to the system, until the system swap was increased to above the recommended (+6GiB) during an earlier step in the installation. Once the Windows swap file size was set above the recommended capacity the installation process continued normally.

Kind regards,

John.

Hello

in addition to the URL given above for downloading Version 7.01, https://www.sdn.sap.com/downloads/netweaver/abap/disclaimer.html,

I have, over the past several days, tried many many times to download 7.02 from these URLs:

1. https://www.sdn.sap.com/downloads/netweaver/abap/70207_64/NWABAPTRIAL70207_64.rar

2. https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/downloads

3. https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/nw-downloads

All of these fail at https://downloads.sdn.sap.com/scnsorry.html.

I am not able to download.

Yesterday I went to SAP Press and bought the book Abap Reference by Horst Keller which book contains a DVD for "SAP Netweaver Application Server Release 7.0, EHP 2, SP 06".

This, however, requires a Solution Manager Key which I cannot generate because I have no access to a Solution Manager.

Can anyone in the community help ?

How can I either get an installation file which does not need solution manager, or how can I get a solution manager key ?

Many thanks to anyone who can help.

Kind regards

Hi David,

I have tried for several days now to find a website in order to download SAP Netweaver 7.01 SP5 ABAP (to install on Windows Server 2008 64 bits in combination with SQL server 2008) but it was not possible. We need it for SAP BPC for Netweaver 7.5 which does not work on Netweaver versions higher than version 7.01. Did you manage to find a link for this download?

Hallo

for several days I have been trying to download Abap 7 trial versions from this site, SDN.

I have used the URL given in this thread, and the access given on the Downloads page of SDN, and the same URL as given in the new SAP Press book "Web Dynpro Abap" on page 22.

In all cases I get the message that the download cannot be executed and I should contact sdn@sap.com for support.

I did that and got a message at 0200 in the morning european time from SCN Support group "The appropriate team has been notified. At this time, we have no further information." This has happened in each of the last two nights.

This morning I have tried several times from the URL given in this thread, without success.

--

Please tell me how to download an Abap trial version in order to be able to install it and work thru that new WebDynpro book.

Thanks

Hi

I've got an error while installing sapmmc in the very first step

Error writing to file: C:\Windows\winsxs\Manifests\x86_Microsoft.VC80.CRT_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_8.0.50727.762_x-ww_ebb27474.manifest. Verify that you have access to that directory."

Does anyone know how to rectify this as this sapmmc installation could not complete,

- My OS is Win2k3 Enterprise Edition

- tried installing with Admin account

- I have given full permission to "Manifests folder" and respective drive as well, but no luck,

-LoopBack adaptor is also installed as per the guidelines with changing the hosts file entries,

Please advise,

I have been having problems installing it on Windows 7 32-bit. I know it is not technically supported but it should be possible.

I suspect that my installation of Kaspersky, although deactivated, is not allowing the installer to add keys to the registry, either that or windows firewall itself is preventing the adition of the keys.

I will try again once I have uninstalled Kaspersky over the next few days and I will report back.

Gingle, are you any wiser as to what the difference is between the NetWeaver 7.01 SR1 SP3 ABAP Trial Version and NetWeaver 7.01 SR1 SP3 ABAP Developer Edition ?

Their description on the download page doesn't give any kind of a clue, but they were made available for download nearly a year apart. Have I missed something?

Hi @all,

I did install the minisap SR1 on a Win 2008 Server. It works, the current problem I have are:

- the new Licence Key from lasATsap.com: has a wrong System-Nr;

// Licence-File: SYSTEM-NR=000000000311333885

// MINISAP SYSTEM-NR=000000000311147814

// MINISAP ACTIVE HARDWARE KEY "J1000850158"

I'd request the key two times.

- SyslogWarning: SAP-Basis System: Bufferoverflow loading table ICFSERVICE

- SyslogWarning: Database: Invalid parameter ObjTooLar transferred to database interface

- SyslogERROR: SAP-Basis System: Operating system call connect failed (error no. 10060)

- the WebGui URL does not work:

http://localhost:8000/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui?sap-client=000

Please let me know, if you want to access my PC via Remote Desktop or SAPGui

Can this version be installed on virtual machines like vmware ?

Former Member

Hi,

Yes, it is.

Step by step:

1. create new VMserver - have installed XP sp2, memory 2GB

2. Installation ABAP Trial

3. SAPGui install (if it doesn't work with Web connection)

4. logon as administrator and run Transaction SGEN

p.s.: It took so long time to finish after installation to run with transaction SGEN (1.5 days).

Then you can begin to work with ABAP.

Hi all

The latest trial DOES work - but installation wise and operation it's a REAL HOG compared with its immediate predecessor the NON SR1 version.

BI also works - (on both systems and client 001) but you need to install the FULL SAP GUI (not the one in the download) or you'll get a dump when trying to create a Transformation.

The best way to do a simple test is to create an extract of the SFLIGHTS table and use that as a data source.

Bex also works - but it's a bit finnecky with EXCEL 2007.

I've also messed around with the IDES 4.7 system - this has the PI content in it so you can use this as a SOURCE system for creating INFO source objects.

If you use the IDES you need to have it on a SERVER otherwise you can't connect to it remotely.

The trick is to have 2 Windows 2003 Server machines one say on a laptop and another on a desktop. One runs BI on the triial 7.01 system whilst the other runs the IDES on another machine. The IDES machine can act as a source R/3 system for your Abap trial system -- simply use RSO2 on the IDES and on the NW system replicate the data sources.

Job done and you've now got a great learning tool.

If your system is poweful enough you can run these as two different VM's on the same machine -- you'll need a bit of power and plenty of RAM for this.

Cheers

jimbo.

Hi Klaus,

Iam going to install the latest Abap trial version - SAP NetWeaver 7.01 SR1 SP3 on my vista Home premium Edition laptop tommorow.Have downloaded both the jar files.

Have gone through most of the threads here regarding this topic and I want to avoid any glitches during installation.

Some question therefore.

[1]

Before I run the installation,do I have to prepare my machine like

- Turn off, uninstall Antivirus and firewall

- Install the j2re 1.4.2.18 version.

[2]

If no DHCP server is available on your network (which dynamically determines the IP address) or your computer is not connected to any network, you need to install the virtual >>interface adapter MS Loopback Adapter. The procedure to install a loopback adapter is documented within the download package.

As I said before,Iam making this installation on a home laptop.I connect to the internet using my modem.

Is my laptop having the "DHCP server".

Do I need to install the MS Loopback Adapter? - when befor the SAP installation.

[3]

Some say I need to install it in Microsoft Virtual computer.I dont want to go through the grind of doing this.

Iam in a dilemma wheather to install the Mini sap system under my vista home premium machine directly or under Microsoft Virtual PC.

The 2 scenarios in my case is as follows and I would like to have some directions from someone here:

[a]

In my vista machine,If I install the ABAP trial version directly. Will it affect my systems performance,if Iam not working on SAP.(Like not working on ABAP).

I mean someother sevices which got installed with Sap system. Will it slow down my system.

<b>

Microsoft Virtual PC officially cannot be installed on windows vista home premium. But I saw some exceptions where it could be installed. My system is having a 2GB ram and I want to install a Vista Home Edition under the Microsoft Virtual PC.

Your thoughts.

[4]

Any tips on installation so that I dont have any problems during installation. Is there any user Guide available for the installation.

Waiting for your valuable inputs

Thanks

P

Hi pazzuzu,

I have installed the package in my home vista home premium and is working fine as of now.

yeah the steps to follow :

1. Uninstall or disable all (firewall, antivirus and tools) which blocks access to system registry.

2. Install Microsoft Loopback adapter.

3. Install Jre 1.4 only (it doesn't support java 1.5 or above), select the folder of installation not the bin folder when requested.

4. Virtual PC installation is not required at all, you can directly install on Vista, it supports it, offcourse little glitches will be there as you might know "extra service cost extra", here its memory and little CPU usage too (only when you are running the application server.)

5. Check your localhost by typing "http://localhost/" it is good to have it working for webdynpro, BSP etc if you are interested.

6. Leave the CPU alone when installation is going on (just precaution to avoid interference.)

7. After installation the local host didn't work for me so installed sapgui to login. During installation of sapgui you will also have installed tweak gui, change it to windows scheme, windows displays further using the operating system theme (just a suggestion).

8. use SGEN to generate all object compiled objects, so that the working is smooth and no glitches in performance when you open a new transaction (improves performance).

Hope above information is useful.

Hi

I was trying to install the trail version on Windows XP sp2.

It is running in the execution phase step 13: Create database schema, it took almost 10 hrs still in the same step.. not moved to the next step and no error listed in the log.

what might be the problem ?

any suggestion will be helpful

I have the exact same problem as Abhi, except I'm attempting the install on a fresh Windows Server 2003 box.

Edited to add that I was able to solve this problem. I specified a master password that included an '@'. Nothing stopped the password from being accepted, but it caused the system hangup previously described.

Once I removed that symbol and tried again, all went just fine.

Hi Klaus,

Does the SAP Netweaver ABAP Trial Version 7.01 work on Vista 64 bit OS?

Nothing is mentioned in the requirements which had me assuming that it would work on any version of Vista.

When I try to install the SAP management console on Vista 64 bit, I get an error stating that "This installation does not support 64 Bit Windows Operating systems. Please use the corresponding 64 Bit installation package".

If the actual ABAP Preview WAS will work on Vista 64 bit, but the problem is only with the SAP management console, Do you have a solution for that? (Ex. A workaround or 64 bit sapmmc)

Yannick, the prompt is asking you for your PC logon credentials in order to start the service. Put in the same user name and password that you use to log on to your PC.

Hi expert,

is this version supposed to replace MINI.SAP.6.2 or an advanced version?

Hi Tomy:

I just installed 7.01 ABAP trial ver. When I run RSA1 transcode, it says 'You can only work in client 001'. But trial version gives only client 000.

Could you please let me know what customization you had to do for running Data Warehousing Workbench?

Thanks.

Hi

Thanks for this information.

Can I plz tell me BI7.0 is also included in this trial vertion or not?

If it is not included then is there any trial version for BI 7.0 for practice.

thanks

Sudip

Hello Sudip,

As the ABAP Application Server Trial Versions are ment to let you experience the ABAP programming capabilities, BI is not included and as far as I know, there is no special trial version from the BI colleagues.

Kind regards,

Hi Klaus

can u plz check the link-

https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/nw-bi-tools

In the 1st paragraph its written -

Please note: This section contains available tools for SAP NetWeaver Business Intelligence only. Visit the Evaluation Software Download Catalog in order to download SAP NetWeaver Main Releases (including BI) or SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment.

now check SAP NetWeaver Main Releases .......it gives the link of SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (2004s) - ABAP Trial Version SAP Evaluation Software ...

So Im a bit confused whether that includes BI module or not..

Kindly check n revert me back.. if its there then it will help a lot for BI colleagues.

Thanks n regards

Debjani.

Hi Debjani,

i install yesterday the 7.01 ABAP Trial Version and a 1st look show that BI/BW Components still include. After the basic customizing, i try the RSA1 trancode and after a little while the Data Warehousing Workbench was executable.

Hope to clear yor mind.

Best regards

Hi

BW component is included in Netweaver Abap Trial 7.0, only thing is it works in client 001, so you need to do the following things to get BI workbench:

1) Login to 000 client & create a customizing project in spro.

2) goto define logical system in spro & create a new logical sytem

3) goto assign logical system in spro & asign 001 client to the newly created logical system

4) now login to 001 client.....now you should be able to run tcode - rsa1.

I hav installed abap trial in win vista home.......
