ABAP patches write many changes to the database.

What about Java patches? Are most of the changes done the the database or filesystem?

Hello,

Java patches update both OS level files as well as the java schema of the database. Ideally if you want to take a backup after the patch upgrade, you should take the database backup as well as the OS level backup of "/usr/sap/"<SID>"
