Release Strat.: Difference Between Rel. Indic. 3 & 2

Hi all,

When I test release indicator 3 in a PO release strategy, the strategy is not subject to release after release of the PO when I increase the total net order value of the PO. This is as mentioned in [FAQ 493900|https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1mciZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=493900], Question: "Why is the release strategy not reset"?

"A reset of the release strategy only takes place if the changeability of the release indicator is set to (...) '4' or '6' in case of another purchasing document (purchase order, ...)", etc.

What's the difference between release indicators:

- 3: "Changeable, new release in case of new strategy" and;

- 2: "Changeable, no new determination of strategy"?

In both cases the strategy is not redetermined despite the description of indicator 3.

Thanks,

Annabelle

  • 3: "Changeable, new release in case of new strategy" --> PO can be change and It will reset the release strategy in case there's a change in one of the value in the release strategy characteristic.

  • 2: "Changeable, no new determination of strategy" --> PO can be change, but the release strategy wont get reset even there's a change in one of the value in the release strategy characteristic.

Do you mean a change in the characteristics values in Classification?

Because if I change any value in the PO (total order value, change of material, change of purch. group, etc.) there is still no redetermination of strategy for indicator 3.

Yes, a change to the value but effective for new/other release strategy not existing rel strategy.

w1n, thanks. However when I increase the value of the PO (final indicator = 3), the release strategy is still not redetermined even if the new PO value should be subject to a new release strategy.

Ex: For PO value = 2 000 - 20 000 USD, I use release strategy = S1.

For PO value = 20 001 - 60 000 USD, I use release strategy = S2.

TEST 1: Final indicator = 2

TEST 2: Final indicator = 3

TEST 3: Final indicator = 6

Results:

TEST 1 & 2: After release of the PO, when I increase the PO value from 2 100 USD to 25 000 USD, the release strategy is not redermined (not subject to new approval).

TEST 3: After release of the PO, when I increase the PO value from 2 100 USD to 25 000 USD, the release strrategy is redetermined (subject to new approval).

So I'm wondering why in the case of indicator 3, the release strat. is not redetermined?

Thanks again,

Annabelle

I try the scenario as per you told using final indicator = 3,then after release the PO, i change the PO value and its adopted the new release strategy, so its working fine, maybe you should check if your release strategy's are set correctly.
