Batch Shelf Life Expiration date changes

Former Member

Hello,

Can someone please explain to me why when I perform goods movements (type 311) the batch shelf life expiration date changes as well?

I have created a batch, the production team has given it a expiration date.

Then when I transfer the batch from one storage location to another (using migo 311) the SLED changes.

Where can I change the setting of this behavior?

Thank,

Dave

Hi,

Can you please check the material master at MM03 for that material and the batch definition MSC3N and check whether the both details match? If not please change the batch details and see.

Customizing can be done in IMG > Logistics general > batch management > Shelf life...> Define SLED check.

Here you just define if this check is active for a certain plant, and in the second step you define which check is active for which movement type.

Have a look there what check you have for 311 movement.

are you forced to enter a new SLED when doing the 311?

If it changes by "ifself" then a user-exit must be responisble for this strange behaviour

Hi Jürgen L.

Thanks for your reply,

I have checked the customizing point you suggested, it is does have an influence.

When I define that ther will be no check, the date really doesn't change BUT then I have another problem, it is possible to transfer stock that has already expired.

I have done some investigating, it seems that when the check is active the program changes the date automatically according to the total shelf life field in the batch master data.

Do you have any suggestions for me?

Thanks,

Dave

Hi,

If shelf life expiration Date Check is activated for movement type 311 then at the time of transfer Posting system will check the shelf life expiration and if date is maintain same then same date is copy during transfer posting but may be user has overwrite that one and it results to change in shelf life expiration date in Batch Data.

And if you remove that check for movement type 311 then ,as you know system will ignore the Expiration Date as well as minimum remaining shelf life both.So only thing which prevent such a change is awareness of User only.
