Dear Thanu,

This is partof the new SAP way of updating NWDS. You have the said SAP plugins in the directory source where you installed the NWDS from in the first place. You just need to update your NWDS for SAP plugins under Help->Software Updates->Find and Install. This will install the default SAP plugins that came with your NWDS CE 7.1 setup source.

Please mark the question as answered if my post solve your question.

Dear Veera,

Thanks for the reply. I have downloaded it from service market place. When i try the option you had specified it says "premature end of file.". Is there a place in service market place where i can download these plugins.

Dear Thanu,

First of all did your installation go through smoothly without any errors?

You should have the following folder when you unsar the IDE source file. CE71_07_JAVA_IDE\plugins. Under this plugins directory you should have all the SAP plugins in that directory. Just copy and paste all the plugins in the directory to the elipse\plugins directory under NWDS installation directory. Now you should be able to find all SAP perspectives in the NWDS the next time you start it.

Hi Veera,

I downloaded the installation from the following location

https://nwds.sap.com/swdc/downloads/updates/netweaver/nwds/ce/

and I didnt find the SAP plugins when i extracted it. If you have the correct URL please send it.

Thanu.

Dear Thanu,

What you have done here is just the installed the base for SP 7. What you should have done is installed the CE Java IDE from Service Market Place's software distribution center.

In the page you have given it shows the following:

The installer installs the kernel of the Developer Studio. The kernel contains Eclipse and a few SAP additions, but is not equipped with the SAP features necessary for the Composition Environment. In order to install the required SAP features you have to install the SAP features with the following update procedure.

3. The installer starts SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio automatically and invokes the Eclipse Update Manager where you can select the available NWDS features that you want to add to your installation.

If you install a previous NWDS release, you have to disable the option Show the latest version of features only in the Eclipse Update Manager wizard dialog to be able to select the previous versions of NWDS features.

Dear Thanu,

You should be able to get the necessary plugins from the site itself. In addition to my previous post, check the Troubleshooting link in the page you gave. You might have to update the policy preference in the <inst_dir>\eclipse\configuration\.settings\com.sap.ide.update.autostart.prefs to get the proper updates from nwds.sap.com website.

Veera

P.S. The Troubleshooting link for your reference is:

Dear Thanu,

Have you configured your NWDS network proxy settings similar to the Internet Explorer's -> Tools-> Internet Options->Connections->Lan Settings? Also you have to check the policy.xml setting according to my previous post

You have to update the configuration in NWDS under Window->Preferences->General->Network connections->Manual Proxy configuration

Dear Thanu,

Check the following and enable auto updates.

1. In the proxy setting you must mention it to enter the same proxy for ssl (unless you have a different proxy for ssl).

2.Check if the policy url is pointing to https://nwds.sap.com/swdc/downloads/updates/netweaver/nwds/ce/710/policy.xml

If it is, then above it, there is something called Valid Updates, select the second option.

3. Now under Automatic updates - Select the option that it should check for updates everytime when the IDE starts. Also select the notifying option suitable to you. Now restart nwds.

Now you should have the updates searched and updated according to your auto update preferences.

Regards,

Veera

Edit:

First it will ask for proxy password (if any)

There will be a second prompt for suser id and password

Hi Veera,

I followed each and every step as mentioned in the thread ;https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/forum?forumID=269, while installing the Netweaver IDE for CE.

But in my case, I am only getting the 3 options in perspective selection screen- Resource, Team synchronizing and Debug. I need other perspectives as well...like web dynpro, etc.

Can you provide any clue on how to get those?

Thanks,

Sonali.

Dear Sonali,

You are pointing to a forum - Composition Environment. Did you mean this thread. If you have thoroughly read this thread, it shouldnt be a problem at all to troubleshoot your NWDS CE IDE installation.

Note:

If you installed setup by extracting from the platform skeleton from here:

https://nwds.sap.com/swdc/downloads/updates/netweaver/nwds/ce/

Please remember that you need to configure your network connection (in case you are using your company LAN proxy server) and then upgrade the NWDS to get or download all the SAP plugins you need (which in turn gives you the perspectives).

Veera

Hi,

I have successfully installed NWDS, but when trying to update to get the additional perspectives, I get the following error:

Unable to access site: "http://nwds.udpate" [Server returned HTTP response code: "404 Not Found" for URL: http://nwds.update];

I have checked that the proxy settings are as Internet explorer.

I have also tried the all other recommendations in this thread..

Any pointers?

Thanks and best regards,

Hi Kapila,

the server you mention seems to be wrong: "http://nwds.udpate"

Please make sure you have pointed to the correct policy file for the update site.

Today I tried to install the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio.

But for the update I receive the error:

Network connection problems encountered during search.

Unable to access site: "https://nwds.sap.com/swdc/downloads/updates/netweaver/nwds/ce/710/policy.xml"

Server returned HTTP response code: "404 Not Found" for URL: https://nwds.sap.com/swdc/downloads/updates/netweaver/nwds/ce/710/policy.xml.

If I try to open the URL in browser I receive the same error: HTTP 404 "The page cannot be found"

Has the URL changed?
