Engineering BOM

Hello Gurus,

We are planning to use Engineering BOM  (Usage 2) during prototyping stage and then copy Engineering BOM to Production BOM (Usage 1) during manufacturing. I wanted to know would MRP and Cost Roll Up work with Engineering BOM. What configurations do I have to do in MRP to make MRP, Bom Explosion and Cost Roll Up work on Engineering BOM (Usage 2)

Thanks in advance,

Standard SAP practice will consider Production BOM only for the MRP and the standard cost estimation and the same cost will be updated in material master also.

If you want to use engineering BOM for MRP and SCE, means it will affect your live planning also. The engineering BOM will keep on changes and this changes will affect your planning.

You can do the standard cost estimation using engineering BOM to know the cost of the product, but it can't update the price in your material master, only PP01, production BOM will consider for this updation.

MRP you can run in simulation mode. But when you want to use the engineering BOM for your production order means standard configuration will not support. You need to make the config changes in OPL8 order type dependent parameters, BOM explosion should select as PP02, engineering BOM instead of PP01 production BOM.

    Dear Sachin Jain,

1.You can create an Engg BOM using 02- for usage in CS02.

2.Regarding config settings check in OS30 for making relevant to MRP and Costing for Engineering

3.If this is the case you should be careful in BOM selection ID used in MRP parameters in OPPQ.

4.And also for costing check in OKKN ,what selection ID you are giving for BOM.

5.Otherwise it wont pick the correct BOM.

Now check and revert back with your further queries.
